Dear. Sir:
I have just moved here from
Alberta and intend to stay here
for a year then move back to
Alberta. Is my present Alberta
Driver's. Permit valid here? If
not, what are the regulations
regarding this?
A. As soon as he' becomes a
resident of Ontario he must ob-
tain an Ontario driver's _permit'.
This is done by surrendering
his Alberta permit and paying
the fee for an original Ontario
driver's permit. When he re-
turns to Alberta he will have
'to repeat• the procedure to ob-
tain. an Alberta permit.
Dear Sir:
A friend of mine was involved
in an accident and has since
been charged with "Careless
Driving". Is this not a serious
charge? •
A. 'Yes, it is. Careless driving
charges are laid when it ap-
pears that the offending driver
has been driving without due
care and attention and without
reasonable consideration for
others using the highway. This
offence carries a penalty of not
less than $10 and not more than
$500 or imprisonment for 'a
period of not more than 3
months and his licence or per-
mit may be suspended for a
period of not more.. than two
years. On conviction you would
automatically lose 6 points for
this offence. This is also .an
arrestable offence.

Is there nothing a person can

nothing that can be done?
