and 27 it was decided at a meet-
ing of the club at the Com-
mercial Hotel.
The deoision 'followed a rec-
,ommendation of the executive

years ha's been a three night af-
fair to two nights.

farm lane at lot 37, con. 13 to
the township road, 23-month old
Roger Cunningham managed to

Recognizing that cold • wet

ties, had resulted in. a substin-
tial reduction iri proceeds from
last Year's summer carnival, the
club agreed a fund should be
established and gifts solicited
to' assist in meeting operating
deficits that have resulted. De-
tails are to be worked out by
the Lions park committee.
The annual rural relations
night will take place .in _March,
:with arrangements in charge of
the rural relations committee,
headed by McKillop Reeve Al- •
'Ian Campbell.

Changes in post office wick-
et hours have been announced
by postmaster. Orville Oke and
in line with hours in effect in
other similar offices. .
Effective February 15, wick-

The Board reported approval
has been received from the De-
partnient of Education for ,the •
extension to St. Mary's Separate
School; Goderich. St Mary's
has 127 students in Grades 3
to 8. The addition will be for
,five classrooms, &rules ,
teachers and nurses rooms ib-
rary, resource centre and sfor-
age area.
Cost is set at $310,000 and
the tender of Monteith and Mc-
Grath Constmction Ltd., •Wat-
erloo has been accepted. The
addition will replace the old
St. Peter's School where -space
and land is' inadequate. Present-
ly there are 91 students in St.
Peter's, ranging from kinder-
garten to grade 3.
The Board approved paying
one:tenth percent of their exist-
ing salaries .to retiring secre
taries •of the former separate
school boards for the work done
since January 1 and until their
books areaudited and handed
over' to 'the :new board. The

cause of his health.
Mr. Rising and .his wife,'"the
former. Ethel Cole, ,are natives
of 'Champain, Illinois, . where
-they were married 'January 26,
1909. Following their marriage
they resided in Champain until
emigrating to Canada 52 years
ago.
- Mr. Rising had come to Can-
ada where he and' Mrs. Rising
had relatives and !stayed bete
for some time when he was em-
ployed at the Robert Bell En-
gine and Thresher Co., at that
time engaged on a shell con-
tract. In 1917 he purchased the
farm on the North Road, 21/2
miles north of town at Grieves'
• bridge. Mr. and Mrs. Rising con-
tinued to farm there until they
retired to Seaforth in 1947.
Mr. and Mrs. Rising have one
daughter, Lavida, Mrs. N. E.
Norris, of Toronto; three grand-
children, Mrs. Frank Shortt
(Blanche); Robert N. Norris; and
Mrs. Hugh Sheridan (June); and
eight great-grandchild-en,

Russell T. Bolton' of McKil-
lop last week was honored dur-
ing the annual Ontario Soil and
Crop Improvement Association
banquet "in Toronto when he
was presented with the Cana-
dian Seed Growers' Association
outstanding service award.
Mr. 'Bolton has been active
in the pedigreed seed industry,,
for more than 15 years and play-
ed an important part in its de-
velopment.
. The award was made to Mr.
Bolton in recognition "of his
contribUtloir to pedigreed reed
production in Canada

portation. '
Thet_C of C also sponsored
five ball clubs comprising of
peewee, bantam, juniot and
two intermediate teams for
boys and girls.
They helped spongor three
4-H Homemaking Clubs. The
park and the community centre
were used by many family re-
unions. The ladies of the Cham-
ber of Commerce memb s cat-
er to many weddings and cial
functions.
Plans for 1969 are to improve
the park facilities, to continue
to provide recreation for the
children, • the possibility of in-
stalling flood lights on the ball
diamond Is also being investi-
gated.
Officers for 1969 are: Past

dent, Harry lefuegge; first vice-
president, Frank Murray; sec-
ond vice-president, Wilfred Ah-
