HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Huron Expositor, 1970-12-31, Page 10SANTA'S HELPERS BOOBED
Sometimes Santa is blamed for making a mistake but when this happens it usually is one
of his helpers who are at fault. This was the case last week as Santa is being blamed for the
caption which appeared under this picture and which indicated incorrectly that Santa's friend
was Allyson Scott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Scott, Seaforth. The information was
supplied by one of Santa's helpers who usually is most reliable. To set the record straight
Santa's guest at the Legion Christmas Party was Margaret Ann Nolan, the three year old
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Nolan of R.R. 2, Dublin.
Scanning the Weeklies
_By Lee Hee
In scanning the Mitchell Advocate we
note that Mr. and Mrs. George Eickmeyer,
observed their golden wedding anniver-
sary. Mrs. Cliff Kemp was presented with
a silver tea service upon her retirement
as house mother for thirteen years at
Stratford General Hospital School of
Nursing. Mrs. Kemp is returning to the
village of Fullarton where she will take
up residence. The newly-elected officers
of the Mitchell and district Pigeon Club
are Ron Rowland, Dublin as president;
Jim. Harloff, Milverton as secretary.
After spending 50 years in the produce
business in Zurich, Leroy O'Brien,
according to the Zurich Citizens News, is
retiring at the end of the year. Mr. O'Brien
has been active in the community and for
many years served as a member of the
police trustee board, prior to its incorpor-
ation, a past president of Zurich. Lions
Club and is a charter member of the
organization.
In the news of Auburn appearing in the
Blyth Standard we note that Mr. and Mrs.
William Straughn marked their 59th wed-
ding anniversary.
From the St. Marys Journal-Argus we
note that the newly formed Snowmobile
Club has decided on a name, the
"Snowbirds". The club has now enrolled
about 40 members and plans a rally for
early in January. Mr. Arthur Johnson was
honored recently by his family on the
occasion of his 88th birthday. It was
"McGuffin Night" at Mt. Olivet Lodge,
Thorndale, when Ross McGuffin was
Installed as Master of the Lodge by his
father, Ivan McGuffin, assisted by two
uncles, The three senior members of the
family are all Past Masters in the Masonic
Lodge and the combined years of member-
ship in the order by the four McGuffins
reaches a total of 66.
According to the Goderich Signal Star,
Alexandra Marine and General Hospital
has received full accreditation by the
Canadian Council on Hospital accredit-
ation, hospital board chairman Jim
Britnell announced this week.
At this time due to so many Christmas
concerts etc. in the weeklies this column
is a little short again. However, I do
want to extend to all my friends and readers
Best Wishes for a Happy and Prosperous
New Year.
