The draw took place in the Legion Hall, Thursday, Dec- ember 24th. The ticket was drawn by Mrs. Vic Stan, Presid- ent of the Legion Auxiliary who sponsored th e draw, with the proceeds going for free skating for the children in the Hensall Arena. SUCCESSFUL EUCHRE PARTY At a successful euchre party held by the Murphy Orange Lodge at Clinton, the draw for the first prize and $10 second prize was made. The winner of the $50 was George Westcott Jr., R.R,a 2 , Gobles, Michigan, a son-in-law of Jack Henderson, of Brucefield, who sold him the lucky ticket. Earl Williams of Goderich won the second prize of $10. Enough profit was rea- lized from the draw to complete paying for the hall, value of which was $10,000 over a 10-year period. Mr. Alfred Smith had the misfortune to fracture his ankle in three places and was a patient in St, Joseph's Hospital. Mr. Russ Jinks and daughter Gayle, Miss Susan Jinks and friend, all of London, spent Christmas with Mrs. Bertha Jlnks. Mr. and Mrs. Beverly Beaton leave Friday of this week for a three weeks holiday in Florida. The bakery will be closed for three wefks commencing January 1st. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Richardson and family of Cobourg spent the holiday and Boxing Day with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wes. Richardson. Ron Beaton has bought the Barry Jackson home on Oxford Street and he and his family have taken up residence there. Christmas Day visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Keys and Anne were Mr. and Mrs. Ivan "Hill, Exeter. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Stephenson and family, Varna, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Bert and family, St. Catharines and Miss Linda Keys of Toronto. THE 1970 FARM TAX REDUCTION PROGRAM The 1970 Farm Tax Reduction Program is the most recent phase in the Government of Ontario's long-term plan to reform the system of local taxation in this province. This program will help farm property owners to pay their municipal and education taxes. Farm property owners will receive $20,000,000 in special assistance from the Government of Ontario. This amounts to 25 percent of the net municipal taxes on eligible farm property. To be eligible, the property owner must live in Ontario. Also, if the farm property is less than 11 acres, it must have yielded $2,000 or more in gross income during the year. Cheque's and information leaflets are being mailed out by the Department of Municipal Affairs to every eligible farm owner. Bell, London, formerly of Hensel', diedSunday, December 27th, in Victoria Hos- pital, London in his 91st year. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Mabel Clark, one son Glenn E. Bell, R.R.#, Hensall, one daughter, Mrs. Elgin(Margaret) Hayter of London, six grand- children and fifteen greatgrand- ROBERT C. MacKAY Funeral services for the late Robert MacKay were held at the G. A. Whitney Funeral Home on Friday, December 18th conducted by his minister, Rev. T. C. Mul- holland of First Presbyterian Church. Mr. MacKay died in Seaforth Community Hospital on December 16th. A native of Tuckersmith he was 77. Temporary interment took place in Pioneer Mausoleum and will be followed by burial in Maitlandbank Cemetery. Pallbearers were Stanley Jackson, Cornelius Dorssers, Jack Patrick, Paul Dolg, James Doig and John C. MacKay. Twilight Xmas Meet Circle Has The Christmas meeting of the Egmondville Twilight Circle was held on December 21st at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Rose. A poem ',The Peace of Christmas Time" opened the meeting and the election of officers followed. Elected President is Mrs. Ken Moore. Other officers are Vice President - Mrs. Peggy Ayres; Secrdtary - Mrs. Ken Smith; Treasurer - Mrs. Jim McIntosh; Program Convenor - Rotating basis with two mem- bers responsible for a meeting; Press Reporter - MrS. Ken Mc- Llwain; Card and Gifts - Mrs. Jim McIntosh. The members and their hus- bands as guests , enjoyed progressive euchre. Winners were: Ladies High - Marjorie Coleman; Ladies Low - Arlene McIntosh; Men's High - Jim Rose; Men's Low - Eric Mc- Intosh; Lone Hands - Marjorie Papple; LutsAy Chair - Doris Carnochan. A sing song of Christmas songs followed led by Mrs: B111 Strong with Jim Rose at the piano. The evening was closed with a turkey buffet dinner, served by the losing team of the penny contest. He witi be buried in Exeter Cemetery, Masonic Service was held at the funeral home by Huron Lodge 224 on Tuesday evening. MRS. WM. FORREST Mrs. Wm. Forrest of Hensall passed away at Clinton Com- munity Hospital on Friday, Dec- ember 25th, in her 88th year. She was the former Emma Dignan. Her husband pre- deceased her in June, 1968.She is survived by two sons, Edison, R. R.# 2 Hensall and Ross,R.R.# 2 Kippen and,two daughters,Grace, Mrs. James Scott, Seaforth and Miss Mildred Forrest, R.N., Brantford. She is survived by ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. public funeral services were held from the Bonthron Funeral Chapel Monday at 1;3Cp.m. con- ducted by Rev, H.F.Currie. She was buried in Hayfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were Clarence Smillie; Stanley Mitchell; Bill Rowcliffe , Harold and Earl Dignan and Wm. J. S. Bell. Flowerbearers were John Scott and Bruce Forrest.
