Douglas Harding, R.R.1,
Gorrie, a 19-year-old first-year
student at Centralia College of
Agricultural Technology, was
named outstanding all-round 4-H
member Friday night at the 23rd
annual Huron County 4-H
achievement night in Seaforth
district high school.
He was awarded the Robert
McKinley Citizenship Trophy by
Mr. McKinley, MP for Huron.
He also received the award for
champion 4-H gilt. Douglas was
presented with a certificate for
having completed 24 projects , the
largest number ever completed in
Huron.
The Murray Gaunt award was
presented to Neil Hemingway,
R.R. 3, Brussels, a member of
the Brussels 4-H Calf Club as
the champion 4-H Beef show,-
man. The event was judged at
Seaforth Fall Fair.
Other awards presented in-
cluded:
C.S.MacNAUGHTON TROPHY -
donated by the Hon. C. S. Mac-
Naughton, M.P.P. for Huron, to
the 4-H member in HuronCounty
receiving the highest number of
points on the basis of awards for
the 441 club work in 1970. The
winner of this trophy has the high-
est score of any of the 4-H
members completing their
projects. Doug. Harding, #1,
Gorrie, had a score of 945 but
due to a ruling of previous years
that the winner of the Citizen-
ship Trophy may not win the
C.S, MacNaughton Trophy also,
it has been awarded to Glen
McNeil, #6, Goderich, a member
of the Dungannon Calf Club with
a score of 944 points out of a
possible 1000. Runner-up was
Richard Konarski, Blyth, a mem-
ber of the Blyth Corn Club with
a score of 939,
WARDEN'S NOVICE TROPHY -
donated by Roy Westcott, Huron
County Warden, 1970, to the
Novice 4-H member obtaining
the highest standing on "Basis
of Awards" in Huron County -
won by Peter Datars, #1, Dash-
wood, a member of the Zurich
4-11 Calf Club, with a score of
884 out of a possible 1000. It
was presented by Mr. Westcott.
Runner up was Nelson Under-
, ,wood, #1, Wingham, a member of
"'the North Huron 4-H Corn Club.
J.A.ANSTETT AWARD - donated
by John A. Anstett, Clinton, an
automatic wrist watch to the
4-H member obtaining the highest
standing on "Basis of Awards"
in 4-H Beef Calf Club work in
Huron County --won by Harvey
Black, #1, Belgrave, a member
of the Blyth-Belgrave 4-H Beef
Calf Club with a score of 911
points out of a possible 1000.
Runner up was Neil Vincent,
#1, Belgray,e, a member of the
Blyth-Belgrave 4-11 Beef Calf
club with a score 3i 910. Brian
Miller, #3, Exeter, a member of
the Exeter 4 H Calf Club, also
had a score of 910. (Neil Hem-
ingway, #3, Brussels, winner in-
1968, had a score of 920, but
previous winners are ineligible.

Canadian Imperial Bank of Com-
merce, to the 4-H member ob-
taining the highest standing on
"Basis of Awards" in 4-H Dairy
Calf Club work in Huron County.
Won by David Baan, #3, Walton,
a member of the Brussels 4-H
Calf Club, with a score of 931
points out of a possible 1000.
Runner up was Nancy Walden,#2,
Lucknow, a member of the Luck-
now 4 h Calf Club, with a score
of 928, Glen McNeil, #6, Goder-
ich, winner in 1969, had a score
of 944 but previous winners are
ineligible.
HURON PORK PRODUCERS
TROPHY - donated by Huron
County Pork Producers Assoc-
iation to the 4-H Swine Club
member in Huron County obtain-
ing the highest number of points
in 4-H Swine Clubs, 1970. The
winner of the trophy was Brian
Miller, #3, Exeter, a member of
the South Huron Pork Producers'
4-H Swine Club with a score of
938 out of a possible 1000. The
trophy was presented by Jim Mc-
Gregor, President, Huron County
Pork Producers' Association.
Reserve winner was Neil
Hemingway, #3, Brussels, with a
Score of 915.
CANADIAN IMPERIAL BANK OF
COMMERCE AWARD - donated
by the Seaforth Branch of the
Canadian Imperial Bank of Com-
merce to the member in the Huron
County Hog Producers' 4-H Swine
Club with the Champion 4-H Gilt.
The award was won by Doug
Harding, #1, Gorrie, a member of
the Huron County Hog Producers'
4-H Swine Club and was presented
by Clair Campbell, Manager.
Reserve winner was Gerry Lobb,
#2, Clinton, with a score of 180.
