Turkey parts offer the same
good turkey flavor as the whole
bird, but take less time to cook.
So why have turkey parts not met
with the same enthusiasm in Can-
ada adv in, the United States? Could
be 2._"iiisult of the Canadian
tradition of stuffing the turkey,
while Americans often cook the
stuffing and the bird separately?
Whatever the reason, busy cooks
should take advantage of the easy
preparation and faster cooking of
turkey parts.
To oven bake turkey parts,
dust them with flour and
seasonings, and brown in hot
fat. In a slow 325 degree oven
the quarters, legs or pieces will
require 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Serve
with stuffing that has been baked
separately in aluminum foil or a
covered casserole. Home econo-
mists suggest that more moisture
be added to stuffing cooked 1i
this way.
For a crispy broivn skin, use
and Mrs. J. J. Cleary of Weston.
While there they saw the Detroit
Toronto hockey game.

STORES FIGHT PLAZAS WITH
PARKING TOKENS
Mainstreet retailers are bat-
tling to win back customers long-
lost to the shopping centres, re-
ports Marketing, Canadian
advertising weekly.
They treopersuading municip-
alities to install parking meters
which give the motorist some-
thing in return for his money.
For each nickel put in the
meter, the motorist receives a
token which can be exchanged
for money or merchandise at
local stores.
The system is already in
use in Hull and Three Rivers
in Quebec, and Kingston and
Orangeville in Ontario.
• The Hull Main Street Mer-
chants Association has already

of different colors and nominal
values of $2, $10 and $50. Prize

ple family dinner. To braise
turky parts, dust with flour and
seasonings, brown in hot fat,
add 2 cups of liquid, cover and
simmer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

"A burglar got into my house
at three o'clock this morning
before I got back from bowling."
"Did he get anything?"
"He sure did! The poor guy
is in the hospital. My wife thought
it 'tinirtier.`
A man with a little black bag
knocked at the front door. "Come
in sir, come in," said the father
of fourteen children, "and I ithpe
to goodness you're a piano
tuner."
The clergyman usually bad a
conference with couples plan-
ning to wed and one of the
questions he asked was how long
they had known each other.
"Nine times out of ten," says
the minister, "the groom will
answer, 'two or three years,'
while the 'bride will say 'three or
four years.' In other words, she
had her eye on him and he had
been a • dead duck for a year
before he knew anything about it."
