Fire Strikes In Staffa
When the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Diehl of Staffa caught fire last Wednesday
it was the family dog who alerted Mrs. Diehl in time to get the children out of
the house and with the aid of neighbours save all the furniture and major
appliances. All the clothing, however, was lost. Mr. Diehl said Tuesday that
no plans have been made regarding rebuilding as the first priority is to assure_
a home for his family for the winter ahead.
The, series of photographs, taken in a twenty minute time span, shows the
speed with which the fire destroyed the home. The top picture shows the house
when the photographer arrived and below it, from the same vantage point
twenty minutes later. Below• left, the rear of the home at the height of the
blaze. Below right, after rescuing the furniture, all the neighbours could do
was watch the house burn.
Arrangements to aid the family have been completed in the community and
gifts of cash or clothing may be left with John Drake, Cameron Vivian or Lloyd
Cameron. (Staff Photos)
