The marriage of Margaret
Jean Russell, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Wesley Russell, R.R.
No. 2. Staffa to Ivan James Mc- ▪ Clymont, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Fred McClymont, Varna took
place in Cromarty Presbyterian
Church amid a setting of baskets
of white mums, daisies and ferns
on October 10th at 3 P.M. Rev.
W. Jarvis assisted by Dr. Anne
Graham of Metropolitan United
Church, London officiated at the
double-ring ceremony.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, chose a white
lagoda floor length princess A-
line styled gown trimmed with
guipure lace with high neckline
and long tapered sleeves edged
• in lace. The high empire waist
was emphasized by a band of
guipure lace and bands of mat-
ching lace trimmed the front
of the gown from bodice to hem-
line. The chapel train, which fell
softly from the waistline was
trimmed with the matching lace.
A floral cluster held her three-
tier tulle illusion elbow-length
veil and she carried a bouquet of
light pink sweetheart roses, car-
nations, mums and stephanotis
centered with a pink throated
white orchid.
Ruth Campbell, the bride's
• cousin from Kitchener, was the
maid of honor and the brides-
maids were Mrs. Nick Whyte,
the groom's sister, R.R.#2, Sea-
forth and Margaret Perry, friend
of the bride, London. They were
dressed alike in floor-length
gowns of shocking pink peau de
• sole. The bodice with empire
waistline was accented by a high
collar, six tiny buttons to match
the dress and short puffy sleeves.
The skirts were simple A-line
style. Rosebuds of the same
material were worn in their hair
and they each carried a cascade
• bouquet of miniature varigated
pink carnations and baby's
, breath with pale pink velvet
streamers.
Kelvin Jervis of Clinton was
the groomsman and the guests
were ushered by Hugh Scott,
cousin of the bride, R. R.#2, Staffa ▪ and Robert McClymont, brother
of the groom, Guelph.

Mrs. John Scott, 'R.R.2, Staffs
was the organist and accompanied
the soloist, Mrs. Don Andrews,
Clinton when she sang "Wedding
Prayer" and "0 Perfect Love".
The wedding dinner was held
in the Church parlour followed by
a reception at the Hensall Com-
munity Centre with Ross
Kercher, R.R.2, Kippen, master
of ceremonies.
The bride's mother received
the guests wearing a deep pink
cut velvet dress with matching
hat, black accessories and cor-
sage of white gardenia and pink
sweetheart roses. She was assis-
ted by the groom's mother
dressed in a cranberry'silk wool
three-piece suit, matching hat,
black accessories with a white
orchid corsage and pink sweet-
heart roses.
For the wedding trip the bride
travelled in an off-white wool
ensemble with brown trim, brown
accessories and an orange car-
nation corsage.
The couple will reside on
the groom's farm in Varna.
Prior to her marriage the
bride was honored by several
showers. One shower was given
by her cousin Ruth Campbell
for the Russell families. Marg.
Perry and Ruth Knox honoured
her with a shower for her Lon-
don friends and Mrs. John Scott
and Mrs. Filmer Chappel gave
a community shower. Mrs. Rus-
sell held a trousseau tea in
honor of her daughter prior to
the wedding.

Euchre
The regular meeting of the
Happy Citizens was held in the
Legion Hall on November 12th.
The winners were - Ladies' high -
Mrs A, Wright; Lone Hands -
Mrs. H. McClure; Low - Mrs.
C. Woods. Men's high - Roy
Lawson; Lone Hands - Andrew
Hueston; Low - Ephriam Clarke.

The Stanley Unit U.C.W.
Brucefield United Church met
at the manse. Mrs. D. Rathwell
opened the meeting with a poem
"We must think peace". Mrs.
W. Scott read the scripture, the
46th Psalm. Mrs. D. Rathwell
read "Perfect Trust and Per-
fect Peace" followed by prayer,
offering and dedication. Mrs.
D. Rathwell said a prayer for
peace.
The leader, Mrs. H. Taylor,
opened the business part of the
meeting. Roll call indicated
there were 18 members and a
visitor present. It was agreed
groups would take the devotional
at the December general meeting.
The December unit meeting will
be at Mrs. D. Triebners.
Mrs. M. Wilsickp played se-
lections on the Violin accom-
panied by Mrs. W. McBeath who
also conducted contests. A film
on "Ontario",' A Place to Stand"
followed.
BRUCE FIELD 'J.C. W.
Brucefield U.C.W. met in
the schoolroom with 19 ladies
present.
Mrs. Don Brodie and Mrs.
Stuart Wilson had charge of the
devotions. Featuring the theme
"Peace" the program included
Mrs. Brodie, reading a poem,
a hymn with Margaret McQueen
as .pianist, Mrs. Brodie in a
responsive reading and Mrs.W11-
son reading the scripture from
12 Chap. of Mark verses 28 to
34.
Mrs. Wilson gave a paper on
"Peace", what it should mean
to the people of the world today.
The president, Mrs. John
Broadfoot, took the chair for the
business part of the meeting. In
the absence of Mrs. Paterson,
the treasurer, Mrs. Berry, gave
the' report.
A thank you note from Larry
Sillery was acknowledged and
Mrs. Gregg McGregor read let-
ters from the foster child. It
was agreed the kitchen committee
would purchase new cream and
sugars. Joan Allan gave a
report of the Regional Presby-
terial held in Londesboro, Mrs.
Docken of Walton and Mr. Hall
of Ontario Hospital were speak-
ers.
The meeting closed with
prayer by the president and the
Tuckersmith ladies served lunch.

UNIT 1
Unit 1 of Cavan United Church
Winthrop held a ham dinner to
bring to a close the Penny Con-
test. Mrs. Don Dodds' team
treated Mrs. George Pethick's
team. Twenty-two ladies atten-
ded. Mrs. Eric Anderson and
Mrs. Ken Thompson showed
slides on their recent trip to
the West with the Beef Producers.
The next meeting will be held
at the home o f Mrs. Oscar
Cuthill.
UNIT 2
Unit 2 of Cavan United Church,
Winthrop brought to a close their
Penny Contest with a pot luck
supper. Mrs. Larry Wheatley's
team treated Mrs. Bill Little's
team. Mrs. Torrance Dundas,
Walton showed movies on their
trip to Japan% The ladies voted
to donate $10.00 to UNICEF.
HI-C
The Hi-C of Caven United
Church showed a film on Martin
Luther King in the basement of
the Church Sunday evening.

Mrs. Ken Elligsen
The Brodhagen Chamber of
Commerce sponsored a banquet
Thursday evening for the Brod-
hagen Squirts, who recently won
the W.O. A. A. Championship. The
ballplayers and their parents
were the guests along with the
Chamber of Commerce mem-
bers.
The president of the C. of C.
Frank Murray, welcomed every-
one. Wilfred Ahrens congrat-
ulated the boys and in his speech
tried to encourage more parents
to come out and support the team
at a ball game. Team manager,
Don McClure, and coach Glen
McClure made fitting speeches
on behalf of the team.
Allan Siemon presented the
WOAA trophy to the team captain,
Bruce Bauer. Terry Elligsen
and Bradley Bennewles presented
Don and Glen McClure each with
sterling silver cuff links and tie
pin, engraved ',The Squirts
1970". F.red Herbert was the
chairman for the evening.
Ken Elligsen, on behalf of
the parents ), thanked the C. of
C. for the wonderful evening and
also Don & Glen McClure for
managing the team.
SWING BOWLING BANQUET
Approximately fifty persons
attended the annual Swing Bowl-
ing Banquet in the basement of
USBORNE TOWNSHIP COUNCIL
Usborne Council met in the
hail with 'Reeve Roy Westcott
and Councillors Lloyd Ferguson,
Lloyd Smith and Walter McBride
present.
Council was advised that En-
gineer Howes had certified the
completion of the Ellerington
drain and that the Geiger drain
repair was completed and that the
contractor on the McDonald •
Rowcliffe drain was construct-
ing drain. Council approved
an application of Ontario Hydro
to divide certain land Part Lot
14, Con, 1, 2.416 acres and sell
it to J. C. Wedge and • Jack
Doerr. By-laws providing for
nomination for council on Nov-
ember 30th and election if nec-
essary on December 7th were
passed and the Treasurer re-
ported receipt of grants on the
Berendsen, Vader, Reynolds, and
Carroll drains, the Warble Fly
grant and the balance of the
1970 Per Capita grant for a total
of $21,697.85. Road acr s,
amounting to $4,900.74 an gen-
eral accounts amounting to
$48,351.21 were approved.
EAST WAWANOSH COUNCIL
The Council of the Townspp
of East Wawanosh met in the
Belgrave Community Centre with
Reeve, Roy Pattison presiding
and all the members present.
St. Peter's Church Tuesday even-
ing. The L.C.W. prepared a
most delicious roast beef supper.
.Reuben Buuck, president, wel-
comed everyone. A two minute
silence was observed for Re-
membrance Day.
During the business period
the following were elected as
the new executive. President -
Dave Wickie; Vice President -
Robert French; Secrietary - Er-
win Schwindt; Treasurer - Fred
Herbert. Fred Herbert was
chairman for the election of
officers.
Prizes were presented to
bowlers who were successful
during the year. The silver
trophy went to Mrs. Jack Gloor.
Mrs, Ross Anderson received a
gift for high single score, Mrs.
Ken Elligsen for low average and
low single score. The men's
went to Milton Bode, high aver-
age; Donald Elligsen, high single,
Joe Smith, low average and Larry
,Cook, low single. Team 4, Mrs.
Frank Vanhevel, Mrs. Jack Bur-
chill, Mrs. Jack Gloor, Mrs. Ross
Anderson, Mrs. Dave Wickie and
Mrs. Larry Cook won the trophies
for the highest team average.
Gifts were given to the lady with
the birthday closest 'to the ban-
quet and Mrs. Dave Wickie's
birthday was the same day.
Milton Bode's birthday was the
gentlemans birthday closest to
the evening.
The correspondence was read.
Council adopted a By-law for
the purpose of incorporating
Lloyd Street and Crawford St.
in the Hutton Heights Sub-Div-
ision, as part of the East Wawan-
osh Road System. Road accounts
of $3,590.60 and General acc-
ounts of $3,738.51 were approved.
GREY TOWNSHIP COUNCIL
In the November meeting,
resolutions passed included: That
By-law No. 38 of 1970 to raise
$200,000 to aid in the construc-
tion of tile, stone or timber
drains be given first and second
reading; That the tender of Glenn
McKercher, Bluevale, Ontario,
for snowplowing for the 19'70-71
season at the price of $9.00 per
hour and standby time of $9.00
per day for days not snowplow-
ing for the months of December,
January, February and March
be accepted subject to the,
approval of the Department of
Highways; That Cranbrook Cem-
etery Board be given a grant of
l200.00 for maintenance of pion-
eer plai; 'That niractiori be taken
regarding Ian McDonald's corn-
flaint regarding the Sixth Con-
cession Drain. Approved ac-
counts paid included General,
$4,957,39 and Roads and Brid-
ges, $23,925.62 for a total of
$28,883.01.
After the business period,
Mr. and Mrs. August Scherbarth
showed slides of their recent
trip to England and Scotland.
Mr. and Mrs. Les Weiterson
and Mrs. Catherine Hillebrecht
visited on Sunday. with My. and
Mrs. Gordon Bender and Mr.
and Mrs. Erwin Quantz at List-
owel. Mr. and Mrs. Welterson
were in Hamilton earlier in the
week visiting with Mr. and Mrs.
Jim Cakebread. Mrs. Hillebrecht
visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Gibb, Stratford at the same time.
Mr. and Mrs. Martin Diegel,
Shakespeare and Mrs. Ed. Kress-
ler, Stratford visited Mr. and
Mrs. Ed Ahrens and Mr. and
Mrs. Albert Hinz on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Win. Jacobs,
Waterloo visited Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. Manuel Beuerman.
Mr. and Mrs. John Hinz of
Kitchener visited with Mr. and
Mrs. Laverne Wolfe.
Mrs. Sherryl De Haan re-
turned home Friday having been a
patient at Stratford. General Hos-
pital.
Mr . and Mrs. Alvin Rose,
Sarnia, spent the week end with
Mr. and Mrs. Chris. Leonhardt.
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Sholdice,
Paul, Mark and Judy of Goderich
visited Friday evening with Mr.
and Mrs. Ken Elligsen and boys.
Mr. and Mrs. Laverne Wolfe
accompanied Mr. and Mrs.
Wilfred Wolfe to visit Mr. and
Mrs. Martin Diegel at Shakes-
peare on Sunday. Other guests
at the same home were Mr. and
Mrs. Sam Wolfe, Monkton and
Mr. and Mrs. Mickie McCloy of
Stratford.

companied Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Elligsen to visit Mr. and Mrs.
Carl Elligsen at Windsor
