The travellers did, a bit of hill climbing and rode 'the chair lift at Glen Shee, one of Scot- land's booming ski resorts. The trip featured many reunion parties with relatives and friends but the most thrilling for Mr. *Doig was one attended by some of the hockey players he had as teamates 14 years ago. They were Canadians who have now made their homes in Scotland. The adventure finished with a train trip back to London and a bus tour of the city. They flew home from Heathrow air- port 'on October 1st with many fond memories of a wonderful holiday, • The Doigs were accompanied on the trip by Mr. and Mrs.Jack • Muir of Seaforth. "Good evening. Pm the new night watchman." presented Jack Murphy, President of the Agricultural TRUST Society' with the club's cheque. The Optimists make use of the facilities at the fair grounds each year during their annual Winter Carnival. In other business, this year's Winter Carnival chairman,- Ken Coleman, announced that the" dates for this year's event would be January 22, 23 and 24. He expressed hope that the Carnival, which is already highly rated in the province, would be bigger and better than ever. Co-chairman Ken Cardno said plans were well underway and should be firmly set In time 'for an announcement at the next meeting. November 9th was declared Youth Appreciation Night and plans are underway for a banquet to honour members of the Optimist sponsored minor hockey and baseball teams. Trophies and crests will be awarded to the boys during the event which will be held' in the Seaforth Arena, The .evening is timed as. part of the Optimists National Youth Ap- preciation Week which starts No- vember 9. ' The Optimist sponsored minor hockey team for boys under ten will be named the Seaforth Optim;tes this season and will be,,, outfitted in new uniform; by the club. Last Thursday's meeting was Ladies Night with the wives of each of the club members present for the dinner meeting which was held. at the Commercial Hotel.
