The aircraft was en route to
North Bay from South Porcupine.
The three men eluded death
three times in the crash. They
could have been elettrObuted
through the contact with the high
tension line. When they crashed
one of them was• holding a pipe
in his teeth. It had gone out, and
after the impact gasoline spilled
over the man's head and ran down
his face. Had the pipe been lit,
officials said, there would have
been little possibility of avoiding
an explosiqn. Tne third "miss',
was the impact itself.

This new Arda project pro-
vides for a study of farm va-
cation literature and experience
in comparable areas .in the
United States; for interviews with
Ontario farm families in .the
counties of Grey, Bruce, Has-
tings, and Peterborough who are
presently involved in the .busin-
• ess , and for all available in-
formation to be gathered from
agencies associated with the
farm vacation business. Front
this will come factual information
, which will be assembled in a
publication under the suggested
title "Farm Vacations as a
Supplement to Farm Incometi in
Ontario". Special emphasis Will
be placed• on such factors, as
site,
cilities, accommodation, Cad:
reqnirements,„pTysical
al
needs, operating costs, net
revenues, managerial skills, and
personal attributes of those who
have been successful.
This survey and the resultant
publication will be under .the
direction an d supervision of
Prof. Jack. Wright, School , of
Landscape Architecture,Univer-
sity of Guelph.
The Ontario Arda adminis-
tration will undertake a study of
farm vacation enterprises ..in
order ,to assess their potential
as a source of supplern.entary
farm income in the province.
It was announced today by Hon.
WM A. Stewart, Minister of
Agriculture and Food for On-
tario, and Hon. Jean Marchand,
Minister of Regional Economic
Expansion for Canada, that the
cost of the study will be shared
equally by the governments of
Ontario and Canada.
Farm vacations are a new
phenomenon in rural Ontario,
resulting from the desire of many
urban families to spend some
time on a farm. The farm
vacation movement began in the
United States. In recent years
a growing,_ number of Ontario
farm families have opened their
homes to paying gueets who are
anxious to enjoy the experience of
rural living. Many families have
inquired about the farm vacation
idea, but there has been no fac-
tual or reliable source of infor-
mation or advice for „these
interested patties.
