Times we note, that sixteen studentgi
and four adults from the area will leave
August 7 from Maltdn on the first leg
of their journey to Expo '70, Osaka,
Japan. The group will be away for 22

on Saturday mornings each week instead

that a large L-shaped barn on the farm

Blyth was destroyed by fire on Thursday
night. Some ZOO pigs belonging to a
neighbor, Ed. Szusz Were destroyed
in the blaze, a threshing machine
owned by Duke Buffinga was also lost.
The tender of Ed. Witmer and Sons
* Ltd., of. Kitchener at a price of $423,400
has been accepted by the Bruce County
Board of Education, subject to final ap-
provals from Ontario Departments of
Education and the Ontario Municipal
Board. It includes a new addition and
alterations to the Lucknow and District
Public School, according to the Luck-
now Sentinel. ,
The Beaverton Express reports that
George Clark, who marked his 100th
birthday recently, was the guest of honor
at the Lakeview Manor, Ontarie County
Home, when the Lakeview Manor Auxil-
iary held its annual bazaar...and there was
a birthday too.
In scanning the Milverton Sun we came
across a sports item you don't read
about very often, now adays, The sport
is Horseshoes. The Sun reports that
former world champion slmer Hohl cap-
tured the Ontario Horseshoe Players As-•
sociation triple A open championship
Saturday at 'Wellesley, defeating Ken
Smith. Hohl won the Town Bowl Trophy
with a ringer percentage of 67.5. Smith,
from Monkton, threw ringers 49.4 per
cent of the time.
It was January- in July, reports the
St. Marys Journal Argus, on' the 20th as
the Walter T kaczuk summer hockey
school got underway on the first week
of a four week run. Ninety-two youth-
ful pucksters, about sixty from Kitchener-
Stratford area, the other from the St.
Marys area,---are- participating in the first
week of the' school. Mrs. Charles Hen- -
derson was honored recently when the
U.C.W. of Kintore arranged jointly at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. Mac Hen-
derson a birthday tea. Some 360 attend-
ed the tea to mark her, 80th birthday.
The Clinton News-Record reports that
at the recent bingo, sponsored by the
Huron Fish and Game Association, Clin-
ton, MrS. Larry Wiesenberg, Seaforth,
was the winner. of $500. She plans to
buy a -freezer. An era in Clinton ends
this, week when Elwood Epps begins a
sale. to dispose of stock gathered over
the 33-year history of Elwood Epps Sport-
ing Goods.

members. answered the roll call
with an old proverb. •

the September meeting. Devot-

A reading was given by Mrs.
