The marriage of Donna Marie
Clifton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
J. George Clifton, Brucefield, to
Robert Wayne Stirling, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert R. Stirling,H.H,
No. 3, Clinton, took place in
Brucefield United Church on June
27th at 3:30 p.m. The double-ring
' ceremony was performed by Rev.
"E. D. Stuart. The church was
decorated with white gladioli and
yellow daisies.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, chose a floor-
length gown of imported Chantilly
lace fashioned on Empire lines.
The semi A-line skirt was en-
hanced by a front panel of lagoda
topped with a matching bow and
'sweeping to a chapel train. Her
veil of cloud white tulle illesion ,
was held Inplace with a, cluster
of white roses edged with pearls.
She carried a crescent bouquet
of yellow roses.
Mrs. Ken Coleman of Sea-
forth was the matron of honor .
and the bridesmaids were Bonnie
Stirling, Clinton, Ann Clifton of
London and Donna Hoggart of
Clinton. They wore floor-length
gowns of maize with Empire
bodice, long sleeves and train of
&Ilion. Their, matching color
headpie6es 'were styled .with three
petals and crowning, rosettes.
They carried hand cluster yellow
shasta daisies and a light mauve
satin ribbon streamers.
Mrs.Frec McGregor, Bruce-
field, was organi tv and acconr- vI
panted the soloi illiam Cook,
" Gederieb;" whe he sang 'O
Perfect Love', and 'Always'.
. The groomsman was Dale
Stir114, Ft.R.O3, Clinton and the
guests were ushered by Rick
LeBeau, Kitchener, Joseph Clif-
ton, Brucefield and Gordon Cald-
well, Clinton.
For the dinner and recep-
tion held in the Royal Canadian
Legion Hall, Seaforth, the bride's
mother greeted the guests wear-
ing a mauve dress with lace
bodice and soft pleated skirt.
She wore miniature' mauve
carnations in her hair and car-
ried a corsage of miniature
mauve carnations and yellow'
roses. She was assisted by the
groom's mother dresSed in a
coat and dress ensemble of
aqua with corsage of pink car-
nations and white roses. ,
For the honeymoon to
Northern Ontario the bride
travelled in a mint green and
white fortrel coat and dress with
white accessories and corsage
of pink roses and white car-
nations.
Guests were present from
Toronto, Kitcheeer, Clinton,
London and Goderich.
Prior to, her marriage, the
bride was entertained at showers
given by Misi Pauline Airdrie,
Londesboro, Brucatield Church
and Mrs. Gordon Caldwell, Clin-
ton. •

feeling fairly well since his re-
cent surgery.

and Mrs. Lawrence Mills of Lon-
don visited Sunday afternoon with
Miss Blanche Mills, Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Thomson of Parkhill
visited in the evening.
Mr. and Mrs. John Redd,
Pamela and Calvin spent a few
days with Mr.' and Mrs. Marvin
Harwick, Stephanie, Janet and
John at the Hartwick cottage
at Nine Mlle Lake.

of Meaford. David returned home
with them after having had a two
week vacation.
Mrs. M. A. 'Parker of Win-
nipeg, who has been visiting Mr.
and Mrs. Nelson Hood, left Satur-
day for Toronto to visit relatives
before returning to Winnipeg.
Nelson Hood has returned
home from Clinton Hospital.

of Hermiston, Oregon is visit-
ing a cousin Miss Jean Ivison.

The Brussels Post reports that at
the regular village council meeting the
members were able to lower the mill
rate by 6. mills due to the lower rates
set •by the Huron County School Board
and the County of Huron. The home of
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Smith, Grey Town-
ship, was completely destroyed by fire'
of undetermined origin recently.
In, scanning the Beaverton Express
we note that a teenage drop-in centre
has been opened up in Beaverton.
From the Milverton Sun a report
reveals that Everett G. Coghlin, who
has been the druggist in Atwood for the
past 59 years, retired recently leaving
Atwdod without a druggist. James
Thompson, retiring clerk of Maryborough
Township, was presented with an en-
graved plaque by' Councillor Fred Nobler
on behalf , of the council at a dinner
honoring his twenty years of service. Mr.
Keith Dickson succeeds Mr. Thompson.
The St. Marys Journal-Argus re-
ported that the Town of St. Marys in-
formed Blanshard Township council that
their fire 'protection for 1970 would cost
$5,388 and payment was requested for
half of this amount at this time. James
Rankin, Blanshard Township, lost alniost
half of his _flock of 200 ducks when
about midnight a motorist drove through
the flock three times. Mr. Rankin said
there were a number of ducklings in the
flock and estimated his loss at about
$150.
The Wingham Advance-Times re-
ports that Miss Janet Carruthers, a
resident at Brookhaven Nursing Home,
for the past ten years, quietly celebrated
her 100th birthday last Thursday. Despite
heavy rains, whiceforced the Farm Market
inside, there was brisk activity and fresh
farm merchandise moved quickly. It is
anticipated that a new business will be
opening • about mid-September when Fire-
stone Stores, a division of the Fire-
stone Tire and Rubber Company of Canada
will take over the McClure Motors building
on August 1st. Mr. and Mrs. Wilfrid
Congram were honored recently on the ,
occasion of their 35th wedding anniver-
sary.

scan a story 'which relates that Mr.
and MiSr; Richard Buchanan, R.R. 6,
Goderich celebrated their 35th wedding
anniversary Friday evening, July 10, in
Carlow Hall at a family dinner party.
Mi.s. Mary Johnson, 111 Newgate St.,
will be celebrating her 96th birthday on
July 28th. Charles Young, 19 Victoria
Street, will mark his 88th birthday on
July 25th.
The Teeswater News reports that about
twenty watches were stolen from a parked -
automobile in Teeswater recently. Value
•was set at about $200. The Home and.

Central School honored Miss Jean
McIntyre at a tea and presented her with
numerous gifts. The staff presented -her
with a beautiful pole lamp. Miss Mein-
tyre is retiring after 44 years of teaching
elementary school.

According to the Zurich Citizens News
more than 1000 persons attended the
second annual Band Tattoo on Wednesday
night. Highlight of the evening was the
• Midlanders Drum and Bugle Corps of"
London. and 'Wdodstock, Ontario BChamp-
ions as well as being Canadian Champs
in 1967;'68 and '69. There were a total,
of eleven bands participating in the annual
event. Mr. Alfred Ducharme, veteran
correspondent for the Zurich paper,passed
away on NiOnday, July 13, in his 93rd year.
He, and his wife, the former Adelina
Masse were married on November 25th,
1903 and had the pleasure of marking
their Golden' and their Diem* Wedding
Anniversaries.
From the Exeter Times-Advocate we
note that two area barns were levelled
by fire during the • past week. Area
residents are being asked by two organiz-
ations to keep an eye out for persons caus-
ing damage to public property. The Au-
sable River Conservation AuthOrity and
Exeter's R. A. P. committee are asking
for co-operation of everyone to curtail
and eliminate vandalism at the parks
and Arimming pool. Rewards have been
posted for information leading to • the
arrest and conviction • of any Peon or
persons found guilty of wilful or malic-
ious damage to any Authority property.
Miss Margaret Jermyn, Granton, marked
her 95th birthday recently. Mrs. Milton
Sles.rnon, Exeter, marked her 85th birth-
day.
