Seatorth tact High School year by year have enjoyed successful careers as they continue their education at universities. Not often, however, does the university comment on the job being done by the students and, as a result, the standing attained by Seaforth graduates has gone unrecognized. One university, at least, is making an effort to correct this omission. In a letter to S.D,H.S. principal, L. P. Plumsteel, the University of Watery* says: A few weeks ago we faced the task of reviewing the Freshman results in the Faculty of Mathe- matics for those students ending the year in May. As usual, and this seems to be a common failing, we tended to ,spend too much time considering the bor- derline and tailing students and not enough time enjoying the re- cords of our good students. For this reason we have recently been taking another look at those stu- dents who ended the ' year with - first class standing and we are contacting their high schools to let them know of their students' fine accomplishment. "Our first class records in- clude the following: Bryan Hodgert - 87.7%. "It is sometimes difficult these days, mainly, because of social problems I think, for stu- dents to do well academically in their Freshman year, and we all realize that Mathematics pro- grammes at any university are fairly demanding. For these rea- sons we are quite happy with Bryan's accomplishment and we hope that this record will be maintained throughout his stay with us. "Thank you very much ror your co-operation in the past and particularly for sending this fine student to us," IN BROCK CLASS Beata Malkus, a student at S,D.H.S. is one of 124 Grade 12 students enrolled in 'Brock Uni- versity today to start a• six-week course to determine their adap- tability to university -.methods of teaching. • Those who indicate by their performance that they-are ready for university without going ° through Grade •red . soots i>4 proles 19194VIreS41‘: • by. their-high school` PrIACJP.44 - man cisAh students had to he rederomended and 10$10464ece officer.
