Many former members and
visitors frpm neighbouring con-
gregations attened the 105th an-
niversary service at Cromarty
Presbyterian Church on Sunday.
Rev. William Weir of Elora was
the guest speaker and special
music, under the leadership of
Mrs. Eva Laing, wa providedby
the choir.
FAREWELL PARTY
, Mr. and Mrs. Keith.McLaren
and son, Rodney, were guests of
honour at a party held for them in
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Vanvalkengoed recently, when
some 40 friends and neighbours
gathered to bid them farewell, as
they will be leaving the Croinarty
community to live in Exeter on
July• 1st. ,Their farm has been
sold to Mr. Cliff Marsden of Lon-
don.
An evening of crokinole was
enjoyed with Mrs. Harvey Dow,
high lady; Mrs. Cliff Marsden,
low lady,; Mr. Ernie Harburn,
high man; Mr. Keith McLaren,
low man.
An address was read by Gerry
Carey and Joe V2nvalkengoed
presented Ruth and Keith with a
pole lamp and Rodney with two
long-playing records on behalf of
all present. Mr. and Mrs. Mc-
Laren showed some interesting
snap shots of by-gone days and
mr. Stanley Zankowski recalled
some of the history of the Mc-
Laren family pioneers who were
among the first settlers in this
part of Hibbert township.

Mrs. Ken McKellar
Mrs. M. Lamond was hostess
for the July meeting of the Wo-
men's Missionary Society. Mrs.
Charles Douglas presided and
opened the meeting with a medita-
-- tion followed with hymn 606.
Scripture was from Hebrews 13-
1-25 was read in unison, followed
with prayer Mrs. Douglas.
Mrs.Grtace Scott and Mrs. Calder
M cK Ste'sented a portion of the
Stud3,' &Sok, concluding , with a
prayer by Mrs. McKaig. The of-
fering was dedicated by Mrs.
Douglas who also read a season-
able poem.
17 cards and 7 visits to the
sick were reported by the secre-
tary. Ten.members answered the
roll call with a bible verse con-
taining the word "Obedience”. A
topic "Many flock's but onefold"
was given by Mrs. E. Moore.
Lunch was served by the hos-
tess assisted by Mrs. T. L. Scott
and Mrs. K. McKellar.

London for dinner on Sunday, to
celebrate the forty-ninth anni-
„versary of their marriage. At-
tending with them were (Mar-
garet) Mr. and Mrs. James Jor-
dan, London, (Doris) Mr. and
Mrs. Spencer Jeffery, Judy, Ruth
and Bill,. Staffa, and Ross Ker-
,cher.
They were entertained later
for the evening at the home of

been a patient in Victoria Hos-
pital, London, for the past few
weeks, was transferred to South
Huron Hospital, Exeter.
Mrs. Pearl. Shaddick, Mrs.
C. Christie and Cathy returned
from a two week vacation- at
Thurstonia on Sturgeon Lake.
Mrs. Gordon Love accompanied
them to Lindsay, visiting her son,
daughter-in-law and family
there.
Mr. and Mrs. William Simp-
son of Birmingham, Mic'higan,
visited over the weekend with
the former's mother, Mrs
Louise Simpson, who is a patient
at South Huron Hospital, Exeter.
John Chappel and Howard
Smale are spending a month's
vacation with relatives and -
friends in the Western Provinces.
Sympathy of the community is
extended to Mrs. Grant Bisback
in the sudden passing of her mo-
ther, Mrs. Elmer Shade of Eg-
mondville.
ATTEND FESTIVAL
Forty-one members and
friends of Kippen East Women's
Institute enjoyed a day at the
Bavarian Festival in Frariken-
muth, Michigan. In ,the morning
they took part in a conducted
tour of a dairy farm, beef farm
and a hog farm. In the afternoon
they visited the Schnitzelbank
wood carving shop, the Bronners
Christmas display which featured
thousands of Christmas decora-
tions, animated figurines and Na-
tivity scenes,. Rau's country
store, gift and souvenir shops
and flower gardens.
A collection was taken for
the Pennies for Friendship, a
project of the Women's Insti-
tute. •

Chatham is recuperating at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. William
Mott of Family Paradise Park,
McKillop Township, after under-
going surgery at Chatham Hos-
pital.
MRS. EARL MCKELLAR
Mrs. Earl McKellar., the for-
mer Helen ,Noakes of Hensel',
died suddenly in. Chatham, June
22, in her 41st year.
She is the daughter of
and Mrs. Archie Noakes, Hen-
sel' who ser.xlve her.
Mrs. McKellar is also sur-
vived by her husband, Earl, one
daughter, Mrs. Terry Susan
Long, Louisville, Kerntucky, and
one son, Michael, at home; three
brothers, , Leonard, Hensall,
Floyd, London, Kenneth, Hamil-
ton; and one sister, Frances,
Mrs. Paul Morgan, California. ,
The funeral was conducted
from the Stephenson Funeral
Home, Chatham. '

UCW Meets
Burns' U.C.W. met at the
home of Mrs. John Riley on Tues-
day evening with 14 members
and two visitors present. Mrs.
Scott opened the meeting with a
reading and a poem "Just Li-
ving". The Study Book on-Japan
was given by Mrs. Rice.
Mrs. Ed. Bell conducted the
business section. Mrs. John Ri-
ley gave the treasurer's report.
