(Staff Photo) B of E Considers Public Image During conventions reports by Vatiotis Board members at the Huron County Board of Education meeting in Clinton Monday eve- ning, it was evident that trustees were interested in improving their public image.. In fact, according to Mrs. J. W. -Wallace, Goderich, Mrs. Warren Zinn, Ashfield Township, Clarence' McDonald, Exeter; and Director of Education, John Cochrane, many discussions at two conventions attended by Board representatives centred around public relations and im- proved communications with the taxpayer. Decision was reached to in- • troduce new policy at the July • meeting' which will permit re- presentatives of the press to sit in on the, entire meeting. Although the Board will be in committee of the whole Board for part of the meeting, the press 'will be free to listen in on the procee- dinge and to report orfeertain as- pectS of those in-committee ses- sions. Mrs. Wallace told the Board' that in some areas of Ontario, school boards are hiring former . newspaper people to keep the ratepayers informed through a type of, newspaper. publisherd by the Board. Chairman John Levis re- marked that in his opinion pre- sent press coverage is adequate: He 'said the.. information' is con- tained in a daily paper , and in seven county newspapers. It' is up to the taxpayers to read this information and digest it, he added. glemlININPmwellallwatelliNfomeNlIF"e BURNS CLEANER No Smoke, No Odour HEATING OIL Walden .,..& Hroadfoot Phone 527-1224 Seaforth raill011111611111116.001,1.110111.0•11011111.11011111 MRS..
