a .patient in the home it is
cheaper, as hospital bed costs
are high. Dr. Wallace reported
the Huron Medical Society had
discussed comprehensive home
care and had passed a resolut-
ion to favour the inauguration
of the programme.
The guest speaker, Dr.Bar-
bare Blake, Toronto, a phy-
sician who is chief of Rehabil-
itation and the Department of
Home Care in the Prevince, out-
lined the programme,
"As our grandmothers would
have told us, sick people are
much more comfortable at home"
she said., "Hospital care is
needed when the patient is acute-
ly ill but as they get better
possibly home is better for them
when professional help will care
for them''', she continued.
Dr. Blake explained that as
of January 1, 1970, the respon-
sibility for the administration
and development of Home Care
Programmes in the province had
been transferred to the De-
partment of Health while costs
are borne by the Department,
with no charge to • the patients
or the municipality.
An active question and ans-
wer period followed the present-
ation by Dr. Blake. To the
question asking if Home Care
would be compulsory, she said
it would not 'be, rather it would
be selective. Chronic patients ,
would not be eligible for the
Home Care at this time, she
explained, nor would patients in
horsing homes.
;Both Dr. Blake and Dr.Evans
pointed out it would be tetter to
start such a programme in a
small way if the survey indicates
it is warranted. Dr. Evans said
perhaps it might be established in
certain centres and radiate from
there.

Lay's said some approved the
prOpOsal to build onto the Sea-
forth school, some wanted a
central school in McKillop while
Still others preferred to keep the
present system.
"We don't knew what they want
and they don't, know either," said
Lavis, who noted that a vote was
not taken among the McKillop tax-
payers in order 'to avoid 'hard
feelings' between neighbours and
friends.
Dan Murphy, Goderich, stated
that in his opinion a vote was
really not all that necessary. He
cited a case in Colborne Town-
ship where the ratepayers there
voted down a proposal made by the
Board and the Board went right
ahead with itsown plans.
John Henderson, McKillop, no
ted that present enrolment in Mc-

that a projection showing enrol-
