church.
After the church ceremony the
large crowd filed into the parish
hall. 'Ladies of the Catholic .
Women's League served coffee
and• refreshments. People ming-
led for a' long and pleasant get-
to-gether and picture taking, etc.
Ushers were around again to keep
the crowd moving in the right
direction and preventing traffic
snarls. Attendance at the Church
was 500. Decorations in the
Church and parish hall were
made by the ladies of the C.W.L.
and by the Young People's Club.
Art work by Grades 7 and 8 of.
St Columban School was also
used as decoration material.
Last ,confirmation at St.
Colpmban was in 1961. Bishop
Carter's visit lasted two hours;
and it was the second last in
the long list of places on the
Bishop's confirmation tour of
1970.

His Excellency Bishop Carter
came to St. Coliimban Church on
Tuesday of last week to adminis-
ter the Sacrament of Confirmat-
ion to 115 young people. The
candidates came from: Hesson
Listowel, Dublin, Seaforth and
St. Columban. They assembled
in St. Columban school, froM
where a long procession was
formed and they proceeded to
the reserved places in the church.
St. Columban choir led in
the singing with Mrs. Vincent
Lane at the organ. The scripture
readings were taken by two read-
ers, representing Hesson
Listowel and Dublin. The Gospel
reading (Luke 4,16-.24) by Rev. B.
I„aragh was the theme of Bishop
Carter's homily "This text is .
being fulfilled to-day even as
you listen".
