bride and Robert Farris of
London, Ontario. All wore white
jackets and black cumberbund and
trousers, with a red rosebud
boutonniere.
A reception after the wedding
Was held in the Church Hall where
the bride's mother received the
guests in a dress of Polyester
Cashmere with full length sleeves
with gauotlette 'wrists, white and
yellow accessories and a corsage
of white and yellow carnations.
She was assisted by the groom's
mother who wore a yellow en-
semble with brown accessories
and a corsage of rust colored
mums:
Farquhar Anglin of Minde-
moya, a friend of the bride's
family was master of cere-
monies. The ladies of St. John's
Church served a delicious
supper. a .
The bride is the grand-
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
James R. Elliott of Clear Lake,
Ontario, and, Mrs. John Higgin-
botham and the latt• Mr. JOhn
Bigginbotham of 'Sheffield and
formerly of Timmins, Ontario.
For their wedding trip to the
Kawatha. Lakes and Eastern On-
tario, the bride wore a light blue
crimpoline coat-dress with white.
accessories. Her corsage was
red 'roses.
The groom graduated on May
Z7th from Western University,.
London. The guests were present
-from Toronto, Uxbridge, Manit-
oulin Island, New York State,
Sheffield, Dundas, London and
Muskoka.
The couple are residing'. at
4'7 Emery St. West, London, Ont-
ario.
Candelabra of glowing white
candles and baskets of white
snapdragons and blue carnations
graced the front of St. John's
United Church, Creemore on
Saturday May 23rd, for a double
ring ceremony when June Beryl,
• daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Arthur
Higginbotham of Creemore,
formerly of Walton Was united in
marriage to Douglas John Keith
Stokes, son of Mr. and Mrs.Xeith
Stokes, of London, Ontario.
The ceremony was performed
by the bride's father and assist,-
ed by Rev. James McKay, Minis-
ter of St. Andrews Presbyterian
Church, Creemore.
The organist, Miss Betty
Waldie of St. ,Thomas, played
for the Processional,"Westmin-
ster Abbey". The soloist, •Mr.
John Weiler, sang. "The Wed-
ding Prayer" and "0 Perfect
Love".
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a floor-
length gown in silk organza. The
design of the dress was in Ed-
• wardian period, high ruff led
neck, full long sleeves with gaunt-
lette wrist ,and nipped-in waist.
Titiy ctirei6§ in' guipure lace were'
scattered throughoUt' the entire
gown and also appliqued on the
attached full train. The bridal
veil of tierred silk meline com-
pleted the costume. She carried
a cascade bouquet of red roses
and ivy.
The bride was attended byller
sister Ruth Iligginbotham as ma-
tron of honor and the brides-
maids, Miss Velma Higginbotham
and. Miss _Kathy_ Stokes-,,,,all wore
•identical floor length gowns of
sapphire blue peau de charm.
They Wore white daisies with
sapphire blue • centres -'in their
hair, and all carried a dascade
bouquet of pink and white car-
nations and ' ivy. All wore a

The 'meeting was turned over
- to Mrs. Harold Bolger and Mrs.
Roy Williamson convenors for
Home Economics and Health.
Mrs. Bolger introduced the guest
of the evening, Bill McLean, of
Egmondville, who showed pic-
tures of his recent trip to Eu-
rope, touching on many different
countries. His commentary along
with it made it most interesting.
Mrs. Roy Williamson presented
him with a gift, along with thanks
for coming and sharing his pic-
tures.
The Institute Grace. was sung
after which the 4-H leaders serv-
ed dishes made from the last
project, Featuring F ruit" along
with 'Sparkle. Different
breads, cheese _and teas was
served by Mrs. Stewart Hum-
phries, Mrs. Herb Traviss, Mrs.
William Humphries, Mrs. Neil
McGavin and Mrs. Roy William-
son.
Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Johnson of
London spent Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. Joe Ryan.
Mrs. Philip Speak of Wood-
stock and Robson Press of Ottawa
spent last Wednesday visiting
friends in Walton and the Ryan
family.
Weekend visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. James McDonald were Mr.
and Mrs. Stanley McDonald of
Detroit Michigan, Mr. and Mrs.
Alex Dewar of Wellesley and Mr.
and Mrs. Russel Krauter of At-
wood.
Mrs. Graham Sholdice re-
turned home Sunday from Vic-
4 toria Hospital, London, where she
had been a patient for the past
week.
Mrs. Alvin McDonald attended
the Conference for United Church
Women last weekend at West-
minster College in London.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Gulutzen,
Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. DonAchil-
les attended the Stevenson-
Fraser weddtng at Barrie Satur-
day evening.
Mr. Bill C outts is a patient in
Clinton Public Hospital having
suffered a leg, fracture last
Thursday morning where he is
employed at the McGavin's Im-
plement Shop:
Sunday guests with Mr. and
Mrs. William Thamer and family
were Mr. and Mrs. Volker Heith-
lein of London and Mt. and Mrs.
Debus of Milverton.
Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Achilles
motored to Fergus Sunday to

UNIT BAZAAR
Mrs. Doug Fraser welcqmed
the large crowd present for the
8th and 16th Unit Bazaar in Duff's-
United Church Tuesday evening.
The guests were received at
the door by Mrs. D. Fraser and
Mrs. Dein McDonald.
The devotional part was held
in the church auditorium. Mrs.
Jim Fritz was pianist for the
evening. The scripture reading
from Matthew 5: 13-16, was given
by Mrs. D. McDonald I ollowed by
the meditation.
The “Sweet Adeline" quartet
from Listow-el favoured the au-
dience with, a collection of old
favourite songs.
Mrs. Don McDonald intro-
• duced the guest of the evening,
Bruce McCall of the Sales Barn
in Brussels who spoke in a very
humorous way, taking as his sub-
ject "Mind the Light". He stress-
ed preservation for tho things
that stand for good. He admired
the younger generation, he said,
and predicted our society should
have agreat future. He was
thanked by Mrs. K. McDonald and
presented with a gift.
The offering was received by
Mrs. Rae Houston and Mrs. Don
Fraser and' dedicated -by Mrs.
Doug Fraser. Rev. D. Docken
closed the devotional part with
prayer.
The bazaar was officially
opened in the basement by Rev.
Docken.
W.I. MEETING
The Walton Women's Institute
met Wednesday evening in the
community hall with the 4-H
members and visitors present for
the open meeting. The president,
Mrs. Alvin McDonald called the
meeting to order. Mrs. Harold
Bolger *as at the piano. Mrs.
McDonald welcomed all members
and guests to the meeting.
The minutes were adopted as
read by the secretary, Mrs. Wil-
liam Humphries, who also gave
the financial statement and re-
ported that a. dozen carnations
had been sent to Mr. and Mrs.
Wallace Sholdice' of Port Credit
for their kind hospitality when the
Institute were on the recent bus
trip. The roll call "My idea what
4-H accomplishes" was answer-
ed by the members.
The, books of the 4-H girls
were on display and Miss Marion
McCallum was the commentator
for the Walton I exhibit 9f
"Various Ways with one Fruit".
Walton II Club had a skit, "Fa-
mily , meals with two fruits a
day".
Miss Susan Humphries pre-
sented Mrs. Gerald Watson and
Mrs. Allah" Searle with a gift.
Mrs. Allan McCall and Mrs. Don
McDonald had been presented
with a gift by Lynne McDonald
at Achievement Day. Mrs. A.
McDonald thanked the leaders
for all their help with the 4-H
work.
