Mr. Kilberg said that MODA has bent over backwards to plead with municipal representatives. "If they always say no, we can't do much else." He said that with the new de- velopments with Ontario planning they might see the light and come to MODA for discussions. "If they want to recognize us we will welcome them," he said. 0. J. Wassman, of Grand Bend, said that less time should be spent in attracting new mem- bers, and more time in preparing for the new Toronto centred re- gional plan. MODA is supposed to give its view on the plan by Sent. 20. .1% IX other business, Manager Milton Phillips said that the res- ponse for the tour of the region has been good. ',We can do more things for ourselves new that we have the money." said David Kilberg, MODA president. ,,We were set up to make things happen. Now we can." The revenue coming in will include a $32,000 giant from the provincial government. This includes an outright $22,000, up $2,000 from last year, and $10,000 if matched in fees from member municipali- ties., So far, $18,324,56 has come in from the membership fees. This is from some 60 or so members and does not include the tees from Ayr and Elmira, which recently joined. Income will be $52,624, but 15 'per cent or $2,748.67 will go to the MODA tourist council. Income thus is $49,875.89, Expenditures will include $4,500 for office rent and $6,000 for manager's salary. Curtis Roth, mayor of New Hamburg said that there is a pos- sibility that Wellesley and the City of Waterloo might join the organization, and asked that zone meetings be held to elect dele- gates,to the council. Kitchener, Galt and Waterloo counties have indicated that they do hot want to become members. MODA has just about decided, not to go after communities that have declined to join the council. The time will, be spent with those, which are already members working with the regional plan which is to be released in late June. Some $8,000 has been see- aside in the budget to finance meetings and work on alb, plan. T. H. Isley, reeve of Waterloo Township, expressed the view that MODA doesn't need to beg. He said that they should not an- tagonize the leaders in the cities which are not members. He said that they will soon realize that they should join.
