of Nursing. Seaforth Community
Hospital is one of the seven
hospitals in the area which com-
prise the co-operative nursing
school.
Gordon McKenzie, adminis-
trator and Robt. Wilson, trustee
of Seaforth Hospital attended the
meeting.
The election of officers was.
held at the school in Stratford
gether with the balance of gov,ern-
meat grants still to be received,
will be sufficient to cover the
accounts outstanding at Dec. 31
and any further costs of com-
pleting the capital program.
Operating expenses of the
school are paid by the' Stratford
General Hospital and have been
included in the total of its claim
for reimbursement by the On-
tario Hospital Services Commis-
sion for the year 1969.

er, W.F.J.Swindall; secretary,
Miss Mary Phllpott; chairman
of finance committee, J. Is Car-
ter; building, R. W. Watler;

advisory member to executive
committee, William Byers.
A joint president's and secre-
tary's report was presented by
Mr. Dickinson and Miss Phil--
poll.,
It was reported that the past
year was very active with the
completion of construction on
the resider e and school, occu-
pancy by five new members of
faculty and overall increase of
staff to include a librarian,
senior secretary, clerk typist,
residence supervisor, five
house-mothers, three maids and
one porter.
The school chaplain, Rev.
Richard Tremblay, was appoint-
ed by the board of trustees on
May 29, 1969.
Dr. Margaret Allan accepted
the appointment as school physi-
cian beginning inSeptember 1969.
Approval was received by
the board of trustees in June,
1969, to begin negotiating with
the Goderich Psychiatric Hospi-
tal for use of Its facilities
within the educational program.
Conestoga 'College was utilized
during the past year for courses
in biology, psychology, sociology
and English literature which
required the students to' attend
the college two days per week
foi' 30 weeks. To promote ef-
fective communication ~with the
college, a liaison committee has
been set up whereby the prtn-
cip0 and a faculty member serve
on planning committee at the
college. Mr. Byers has been
appointed to the board of
trustees at Connestoga College.
On September 2, 1969, 50
studeftts were admitted into the
new two plus one program.
the 50 students admitted, three
withdrew for personal reasons
and six were required to termin-
ate the program due to failure
to meet course requirements.
The number of students in the
1969-72 class as of May 6,
1970, is 41.
Of the seven hospitals par-
ticipating in the school program,
five have been used for the past
32 weeks. The official Opening
of the school was held Nov.5,
196,9. The faculty and staff of
the Stratford General Hospital
School of Nursing occupied of-
fices in the new school as of
Dec. 15, 1969.
Appreciation was expressed
to the board of directors of the
Stratford General Hospital for
its donation of a swimming pool
for the use of the students at ,
the school.-..h Miss Philpott, chairman of
the faculty committee reported
on activities of the school from
May 1969' to May 1970, which
showed an active, progressive
year.
Mr. Dickinson presided for
the meeting.
The financial' statement of
the School of Nursing was sub-
mitted by W,F.J,Swindall, treas-
urer of board of trustees at
the annual meeting of Perth-
Huron Regional School of Nurs-
ing. Total assets of $4875,165.05
balanced with total liabilities and
equity. Net expenditures for the
year ending Dec. 31, 1969, are
$71,597.43.
Notes to the financial state-
ment' for the year ending are:
the main contracts for the con-
-struction of the school and resi-
dence were substantially com-
pleted as at Dec. 31, 1969; fur-
ther work with an estimated
value of .$5,000'has been defer-
red until spring of this year;
the total cost of the program
of capital expenditures, for the
school, residence, furnishings,
equipment and shared facilities
was estimated at $1,893,638. at
the end of 1969.
Ontario government grants
will finance 100 per cent of the
approved cost of the school. The
estimated approved cost of
$5 0,849 is subject to ,govern-
e audit before payment of the
fin grant. The Ontario gov-
ernment will also finance
$576,000 of the cost of the resi-
dence. The remainder of the
residence cost will be financed by '
a central mortgage and housing
corporation mortgage loan not
to exceed $843,320 repayable with
interest at 6 7 /8 per annum, in
monthly instalments over a per-
iod of 25 years. Payment of the
first of these instalments was
-deferred from Nov. 1, 1969, to
a date early in 1970.
It is anticipated that the bal-
ance of the 'mortgage funds, to-
