Kippen Walker
,Finishes Fifth
Glen McLachlan of R.R. 3,
Kippen, represented Seaforth in
the Irish Rover's Walk in London
again this year. Twenty-four of
the twenty-eight starters finished
the walk. The fastest walker did
the 16.4 miles in 2 hburs and
44 ,minutes. Glen came in fifth
his time being 2 hours and 56
minutes.- He .cut off 16 minutes
from last year's time.
FUNERAL
JAMES C. -DOUGLAS
James C. Douglas, 87, -of
Mitchell, died in Stratford.Gen-
eral Hospital on Sunday.
He was born in Logan Town-
ship, son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. David Douglas. He farmed
in Logan Township until retiring
to Mitchell 22 years ago.
He was an elder in the Knox
Presbyterian Church and an
honorary director of the Mitchell
Agricultural Society. He was
'former Reeve of Logan Town-"
ship and Reeve of Mitchell and
was Warden of Perth "County.
Surviving are his,. wife, the
former May Cameron; one daugh-
ter, Mrs. David (Wanda) Bart
, of Owen Sound; two sons; Cam-
eron of Hamilton and Mac V
London; nine, grandchildren.
• The body was at the Heath-
Leslie funeral home in Mitchell
where the service was held Wed-
nesday at 3 p.m. Burial followed
in Knox Presbyterian Cemetery.

The couple motored to Roch-

Mrs. Ian Philpott and Donald.
The young couple are resid-
ing in Woodstock.
A plump gentlemen, upon fini-
shing a fine meal at an expen-
sive restaurant •summoned the
headwaiter: "Do you recall";
he asked pleasantly, "how 'a year
ago I enjoyed such a meal here
and then, because I lacked suf-
ficient funds, you had me thrOwn
into the gutter like a veritable
bum?"
"I'm very sorry, sir," be-
gan, the contrite waiter.
"That's quite all right, old
man," said the diner, soothing-
ly, "but .1'm afraid I'll have to
trouble you' again."
