Philip Anthony Ward, 16 year old son
of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Ward, was "pre-
sented the meritorious award for the life
saving of Edwin Illman, a fellow Scout
at a scouting camporee at'Wildwood
St,* Marys in May of 1968. The presentat-
ion was made by Mr. Hugh Edighoffer,MPP
for Perth, who was guest speaker at the
Father and Son banquet of the Monkton
Cabs, couts and Venturer group accord-
ing to the Mitchell Advocate. Ina second
story, the Advocate relates that' Mrs.
Margaret Frappier, the former Margaret
Holland of Dublin, 'won an all-expense trip
to Expo '10 for five, valued at $4,000.The
trip to Japan was awarded for the volume •
of business done in a specified period.Mes.
Frappier was the first woman elected to
the Montreal Stock Exchange. There are
many relatives of Mrs. Frappier in the
Dublin area.
According ,to the BlA Standard over
60 neighbors met Saturday evening at the
old third line school to honor Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Carter and Miss Barbara Carter.
The Carters have sold their farm and are
moving to Goderich.
Bob Shrier, publisher of the Goderich
Signal-Star, was the guest speaker, ac-.
cording to the Zurich Citizens News, at
the regular dinner meeting of the Zurich
and district Chamber of Commerce . Mr.
Shrier's topic ,was The 'Value of Positive
Thinking."
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Errington of the
6th concession of West Wawanosh cele-
brated their Golden Wedding Anniversary,
Saturday, March 14th, according to' the
Lucknow Sentinel. Also reported in the
Sentinel is a stgry referring' to a gathering
honoring Mrs. Dan' Nicholson .on the oc-
asion of her 80th birthday. Among the
tw ty-one present were Mrs. Wm. Smith
(Donalda), and ,Robbie of Sedforth. The
, dinner party was held at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. .Jim (Isabel) Hunter of Zion.

According to the Clinton News-Record
the Lamp of Learning project byCFB Clin • -
ton was to aid the Canadian Armed Forces
Training Command to 'help build a child—
ren's school -in Ghana, Africa.' The cam-
paign held the past two months included
donations, bingos andk the Lamp of Learn- '
ing draw. A total of $1250, after expenses,
was collected and will be donated to the
Ghana School project. Corporal "Ray"
- MacInnis of CIB Clinton was the happy
winner of. $1,000. The Record also re-
ports that the Ontario Housing Corpor-
ation has called tenders for 18 senior
citizens' units to be built at James and
Maria S eets in Clinton. Building will
be done b merchant builders. '
Dogs i Exeter, -caccording to the
Exeter Ti es Advocate, will have to take
their. chanceg ”lkith an animal control
officer again this year. council agreed
to enter into, an agreement with Exeter
Veterinary Clinic again this year to catch
dogs, running at, loose. The clinic will
again receive ,$215 per month for the
five month period fitm April 15 to Sept-
ember 15 when they will make two-hour
patrols twice each week. The Times-
