6th with ladies of surrounding
churches present. Mrs. Martin
Baan played a piano prelude prior
to the service.
The U. C. W. president Mrs.
Wm. Roe introduced • the World
Day of Prayer by being the first
leader • on "Praise" from the
order of service followed by
singing hymn, "All People that
on Earth do Dwell."
Mrs. Stewart Humphries, the
second reader took as her part,
"Assurance" followed by prayer
and all repeating the "Lord's
Prayer" in unison. A Dutch hymn
was sung, "God calls his people
firm to stand".
Mrs. Allan McCall the third
reader, led the IM,editation' with
responsive reading. The voice
portion was taken by Mrs.James
Clark. The hymn "God of Grace,
and God of Glory was sung."
Mrs. Wafter" Bewley intro-
duced the guest speaker, Rev.
W, O. Mathers of Blyth United
ChUrch, who spoke on the World
Theme "Take Courage". He-
stressed that'discourarelnent had
settled down on the Christian
Church, he reminded us that
attendance is down in our Sunday
Schools, its not bad what is
happening as the church accepts
the standards of. the world. The
church is confronted with es-
sentials, we can work together,
it challenges us, its time to
call for' new commitments, its
time to call for prayer.
Mrs. Alvin McDonald thanked
the speaker for pis inspiring
message.,
The 'Intercession', respon-
siye reading was given by the
fourth reader, Mrs. Robert Ryan.
A very pleasing duet, entitled,
"Gods Way" was sung by Mrs.
J. Bos and Mrs. J. Van VlietSr.,
accompanied on the piano by Mrs.
M. Baan. •
The offering was received by
Mrs. Ken McDonald and Mrs.
Merton 'HaCkwell, dedicated' by
Mrs. Wm. Roe. '
Mrs. James Williamson, the
fifth reader, gave the reading
on "Affirmation". Hymn "The
Day Thou Gayest Lord is End-
ed" wag sung.
Mrs. Roe voiced her apprec-
iation to the speaker, thoge talt
ing part in the service, and the
special music, followed by the
dismis'sal prayer:

„Thirteen tables were in play
at the euchre party Friday even-
ing held in the Walton Commun-
ity Hall, sponsored by the Wom-
en's InStitute. Prizes were given
out for high lady,. Miss -Pearl
Thamer; low lady, Mrs. Harvey
Craig, high mani•James McDon-
ald, low man, Harvey McClure.
Most lone hands, James Smith.
Lunch was served by the com-
mittee in charge, Mrs. Gerald
Watson, Mrs. Earl Watson, elks.
Dave Watson and Mrs. Ken Mc-
Donald. The next euchre party
is set for March 20. ,
- 4-H CLUB MEETINGS
Walton 1 Fruit Cups held their
third. meeting at the home of
Susan 'Humphries, on Tuesday
evening, March 3. The meeting
was opened by the president with
the 4-H pledge. Marion McCal-..
lum and Susan Humphries demon-
strated an apple snow jello. The,
different grades of fruits were
discussed and the club books were
checked. The hostess had dried
fruits as an exhibit, some were
cooked and sampled At the end
or the meeting, along with the
jello that was set. The next

Meets
World Day of Prayer was ob-
served by the BUrns' U.C.W. on
March 6, 'at the home of Mrs.
Gordon McGregor, under the
leadership of Mrs. WM.Trewin.

ladies took part in the service:

Mrs. Ed. Salverda Sr., Mrs.Jim

Mrs. Wm. Trewin.
Mrs. Ed. Bell conducted the
business session. Roll call was
answered by a Bible verse, and
payment of dues for the year.P re-
vlous minutes were read by Mrs.
Jim Scott. The treasurer's
report was given by. Miss Jean
Leiper. Life Membership Cer-
tificates and pins were presented
to ten ladles, and- other members
received pins. Mrs. Pete Sal-
verda and Mrs. Jim Jamieson are
the leaders in the copper con-
test. Articles-for a bale may be
brought to the April meeting. A
donation was made to Camp
Menesetung, Goderich. Thank
you notes were read. Mrs. Bell
closed the meeting with prayer.
Grace was sung and lunch served.

iary held their regular meeting
on Wednesday evening with Mrs.
Cleve Coombs presiding. There
were 20 members present. The

The drapes tor the ladieS and
escorts lounge', which has been
renovated by the Auxiliary, have
been hung. A new floor is being
laid in the kitchen in the near
future. The 8:30 draw was won
by Margaret McNairn. The
mystery prize was won by Grace
Miller and a prize donated by
Caroline Muir .was also won by
Margaret McNairn.

called incidents of a recent trip
to Florida. Harold Coleman read
part of the sermon on the Mount
for the Scripture Lesson. Rev.
T.C.MulhoIland led in prayer.

MISSION BAND
The Mission Band was held
Sunday morning in Duff's United
Church with 37 members pre-
sent. The 'Call to Worship' was
given by Ross Mitchell with the
opening hymn, 'Jesus Bids us
Shine' with Janice Houston as
pianist for the meeting. The
scripture reading was given by
Dianne Dennis and Jeffery Hack-
well led in prayer. The minutes
of the last meeting were read by
the secretary, Stephen Dennis
gave the treasurers report and
took up the collection. Debbie
and Janise Van Vliet will play
the piano for the next meeting
-to be held the second ,Sunday
next month.
The children went to their
classes with the following tea-
chers, Mrs. Merton Hackwell,
Mrs. Ross 'Bennett, Mrs. Wm.
Roe, Mrs. Mack Sholdice assisted.
by Debbie Wey. Hymn 'Jesus
Loves Me' was sung. The Miz-
pah Benediction closed the meet-
ing.
WALTON 11
The third meeting of the
Walton 11 "Fruit Loops"• was
held at the home of Beverly Mc-
Call on Saturday afternoon. The
meeting was opened by June Wil-
liamson with all repeating the
4-14 pledge. 'Minutes of the last
meeting were read by the secre-
tary. Roll call was answered by
ten members. There was an ex-
hibit of several, dried fruits and
different grades of canned fruit.
Janice Houston and-Cathy Mc-
Donald Offered to demonstrate
the making of individual short-
cakes, which were served with
strawberries and Whipped cream
after the meeting. The, leaders
gave notes on canned, frozen and
dried fruits.. Record books were
ctecked. It was decided to have
the next meeting at Heather and
Cathy McDonalds on Saturday,
• March 14. The meeting closed
with the 4-H motto. •

Miss Lorna Cooper was the
honored guest at a bridal shower
in -the basement-of Duff's United-
Church, Walton on ' Thursday
evening.
Mrs. Jan Van Vliet, Jr.acted
as master of ceremonies open-
ing the program with a poem
entitled 'Husbands'. Debbie-and
Janice Van Vliet sang a 'duet ,
accompanied by Janice Houston
at the piano. Lynn McDonald con-
tribifted Zpiandlgcilo followed
'V`an Vliet reading another
very interesting poem on 'How '
to Gook a husband'.
The honored guest; her
mother Mrs. L. Mitchell and
the groom's , mother, Mrs. H.
Elliott of Brussels were then
asked to take the special dec-
orated chair's at the front.when.

dress.
The gins were carried in by,
Lynne McDonald, Becky Nolan,
Beverly McCall, Mrs. Fritz and
Mrs. Van Vliet. Lorna made a
fitting reply for all the lovely
gifts and thanked the ones that
had arranged the shower. Lunch
was served by members of the
8th and 16th Unit.

returned last week from a very
enjoyable six weeks vacation at
Auburndale, Florida.

HOSPITAL
AUXILIARY.
Mrs. Gerald Godbolt, Exeter,
chairman of District 2, Hospital
Auxiliaries Association, was the
guest speaker at the March mee-
ting of the Seaforth Hospital Auxi-
liary on Tuesday evening.
Mrs. Godbolt outlined the his-
tory of the Hospital Auxiliaries
Association from the beginning
in Brantford in 1910 when the
inaugural meeting was held. This
year the Association will cele-
brate its diamond anniversary.
Mrs. Godbolt explained Dist-
rict 2, which has a circumference
of 258 miles bounded by Mount
Forest on the north, Guelph and
Galt on the east, Tillsonburg and
Exeter on the south and Goderich
cle the west. There are 21 hospi-
tals in the district, all with a
hospital auxiliary which, the
chairman, who usually holds of-
fice for two years, must visit
at least once during her term of
office.
Mrs, Godbolt was introduced
by MrS. Jospeh McConnell' and
thanked, by Mrs. Orville Oke.
Mrs. Walter Davis, Exeter, se-
cretary-treasurer of District 2,
accompanied Mrs. Godbolt to
Seaforth.
Mrs, Kenneth Etue, vice-
president, resided at the mee-
ting in the absence of the presi-
dent.
Mrs. Joseph Devereautx re-
ported there are 85 active mem-
bers and.165 associate2members
now on the roll.
Miss Dorothy Parke gave a
report on the Auxiliary Dance
which was attended, by a capacity
crowd and netted • the Auxiliary
$375.00. The danc,e had been plan-
ned to provide fun for the mem-
bers and their guests and for good
public relations. Because of its
popularity it became a profitable
venture and will provide money
for bassinets for the nursery.
Mrs. W. C. Bennett showed
pictures of her trip td Ireland,
relating many interesting and
amusing anecdotes of her holi-
day.
Vhe mystery prize was Wen by
Mrs. William Teall.
"Courage"

was very well attended in North-
side United Church. The guest
speaker was Miss
who spoke o11sAheme..., 'Take
Courage.' She sfaTed ttai from
' earliest times great leaders have
known the value of their foftow-
ems by taking courage. The
Christian religion began on the
note 'Take Courage and the Angel
said to the Shepherd,,Fear Not.'
She stated courage may be had
by trusting faith in God.
Mrs. Don Wood and Miss Ruth
Cluff sang a duet 'It is wonder-
ful to me' and was accompanied
by Mrs. 'Jas. A. Stewart. Choir
members from the different
churches added much to the ser-
vice. Others taking part were
Mrp. J. Flannery, Mrs. H. James,
Mrs. C. Friend, Mrs. Jas.Rose,
Mrs. G. Ribey and Mrs. James
Axtmann and Mrs. James Keys.
The collection, amountiing to
$65.15 was received by Mrs. H.
Parsons, Mrs. E. Allen, Mrs.
Sam Scott, Mrs. E. Haist. The
key woman was Mrs. Cleve Co-
ombs and fte,key woman for 1971
is Mrs. G. Ribey.
