Absent - Dawna Blues Upset Yellows by Gary Gray The Greens and Blues have both opened up one game leads in the Industrial Hockey League Semi-Finals. The Blues walloped the Yel- lows by the score of 10-5 while the. Greens edged past the Reds- 4-2. The Blues ,got 'three goal per- formances from Larry Scott, Dave Broome and Bill Pinder. Art Strong was the other Blues marksman. Bill Kerr and Dale Kennedy scored twice each fox the Yellows with Bob Papple scoring the other. In the late game, which turned' out to be the best game of the two, the Greens got third-period goals from, Brian Flannigan and Ray Powell and got superb goal- tending, from Jerry Cooper in their win over the Reds. Jimmy Watson and JackUngarian scored the •other goals for the, Greens. Larry Gbn and Bill Teall scored for Me Reds. Games for Sunday, March 15, 1970: 7:00 Greens vs. Reds • 9.00 Blues vs. Yellows • Monday and Tuesday night the Cine Club received over- whelming crowds at their pre- sentation of ',In Cold Blood," the movie from a novel by Truman Capote. Also appear- ing' with "in Cold Blood," Was', "A - Place to Stand;" the Oscar winning film from the Ontario pavilion at Expo '67. Both shows were enjoyed 1)y all who attended. Plans for our 1970 ',At•Home" are now underway. This year's theme is "Wonderland by Night" and promises to be very exci init. The big date is April 17, and with just over a month to plan it, the decorating commit e has already assembled. Music for the evening will be by Johnny Downs, so it' seems that there Is an en- joyable time in store for those ,,planning to attend. On behalf of the entire student body we say "Congratulations!" to Mips Weiler and our girls' basketball teams who ,proved themselves tops here on Satur- day. It was a very exciting day for everyone and we're all proud of our WOSSA champions. Congratulations, also, to the boys' teams who played a tremen- dous season. The boys went to Strathroy 'on Saturday, but weren't able to keep up their winning streak. However, we're proud of both boys' t6.nkS, Mr. Peiss, and Mr. Riedy for pill in a good year. The Minto Junior Farmers won the consolation competition to capture the "B" championship • trophy wirming•-over-the _Grey Seaforth Hosts 7*-43 lionspiel • In the early draw, first prize went to a rink from`Simcoe, with Jake Reimer, skip, Wayne Nor- man (Waterford) vice, John Van- derlieu (Delhi) second, and Jack Henning (Tillsonburg), lead. Se- cond prize went to a< Tpronto team, with Ory McJanet, skip, Doug Brockbank, vice, Ross Thompson, second.and Jim Clus- ter, lead. Consolation, London City Hall Branch, B.Bibby, skip, W. Young, vice, M. Coates, sec- ond, H. Griffith, lead. The late draw saw a rink 'from St. Marys take first prize. Dave Caldwell; skip (Stratford), Paul Norry, vice (St.Marys), Tom Papple (St. Marys) second, and John Kemp, lead. Second prize won by Wingham, Fred Snow, skip, Nick O'Donohue, vice, 1?0.t1, Shirk, second atid Alex Graham, lead. Consolat- ion prize won by a Chatham rink skipped by Dave Bradey, Glen Mast, vice, George Light- foot, second and Don ,Snyder, lead. The Head Office Trophy was won by the St. Marys rink with the highest number of points. Seaiorth was represented by a rink skipped by Ned Boswell and including vice Earl Ritchie • second Gerry Blow and lead Buck Etherington. Miss Carolyn Riddell, 20, of R.R.I, Dundalk, was chosen the 'queen of the tournament. All 10 teams • had entered a queen, With Miss Riddell being sponsored by the Owen Sound Junior Farmers. She is in her second year of training at the Owen Sound Reg- ' tonal_ School of Nursing. .county junior farmers. Runners-up, chosen as prin- cesses were Miss Susan Whit- taker; 20, of R.R. 3, Palmerston, Miss Minto Junior Farmer, and Miss Brenda Ball,-19, of R. R: 3, Aubur,n, Miss HOron Junior Farmer. All three were crowned by the 1969 Queen, Miss Marleen Gilchrist, R.R. 5, Guelph.
