The guest speaker for the
March. 9th meeting of the Dublin
Parent Teachers Association will
be Sister Judith from the Loretta
Academy in Stratford. She will
be speaking on Religion.
Last week the names of Mr.
Frank Van Bergen and Mr. Ben
,NylFid. were , omitted from a list
of members of the executive
committee.
A surprise baby shower was
held for Mrs. Dave ,Mills on
Friday evening at the home of
Mrs.- Ken Whetham. Mrs. 'wills
is the proud mother of a baby
girl, Lisa Ann.' At the end of
the party -Mrs. Wills was, given
a. high chair.
Mrs. Kathleen Monoghan; Kit-
chener, has rented the apartment
previously occupied by Miss Mo-
'nica. Byrne, from Mr. Gerald K.
Holland.
Mr. and' Mrs. John Joynt and

Fire Monday of last week
destroyed the two-storey frame
home of Mr. and Mrs. ' Carl
Kramers in Mitchell. -Mrs. Kra-
mers had been out playing bingo
at the time of the blaze. Her.
husband escaped the burning
home. with their two children,
Tracy, aged 2, and Todd, aged
4.

been cleaning paint brushes and
his daughter spilled over the

-A shower was held last week
end for Mr. and Mrs Frank Jar-
miith nee Sharon Knott at the
Community Hall. "The Blend-
ers" supplied the music for
dancing. Clare French read the
address and Wayne Wiirdell pre-
sented the newly married couple
with a gift of money.

The Brownies and Guides of
Seaforth entertained—their pa-
rents on Wednesday, February
18th'at a combined Fly-up cere-
mony and 60th Birthday party.
The Rangers, unfortunately, were
unable to attend due to the be-
ginning of school exams.
The evening began with the
Guides marching into their
horse-shoe and the Brownies
singing the Brownie Song in their
ring. Introduction 'of the leaders
followed. 1st Seaforth Brownies
- Brown Owl, Mrs. VivianNewn-
ham; Tawny Owl, Mrs. Jacque-
line Melanson; Grey Owl, Mrs.
Marie Kelly. 2nd Seaforth Brow-,
nies - Brown Owl, Mrs. Gwen
Maidens; Tawny Owl, Mrs. Joyce
Patterson; Tweeny Owl, Mrs.
'Marjorie Racho. Guides - Cap-
tain, Mrs. Lennie Stinnissen;
Lieutenant, Mrs. Pat Bremner;
Company Leaders, Judy Staffen
and Shauna Graham. Ranger Cap-
tain, Mrs. Marlene Roberton.
The Fly-up ceremony fol-
lowed with the Fly-up Brownies
wearing her own set of wings.
The Brownies then had a jig-saw
puzzle to complete - each piece
being a test they must pass to
earn the Golden Hand badge which
entitles them to' wear Brownie
wings on their Guide uniform.
'The purtle, when completed, was
the birthday symbol. The Brow-
nies going up to Guides were
Carol Staffen, Vanda Storey, Su-
san Kuncjer, Linda Vincent, Kim
Anstett, Pam de Groot, Michelle
Savauge and Siobhan Kennedy.
The remaining Brownies then
spelled out 'Good Lunt( inGuides'
with a short message starting
with each letter. After the Grand
Howl the Brownies were then/
taken by their Brown Owl to the
Guide Captain, who welco ed
them and introduced them to thmd.,ir
patrol leader. The Company wel-
comed the new Guides with a
very impressive candle light pro-
mise ceremony and a song "Our
Chalet". While they were waiting
for' the Birthday Cake, the girls
sang some of their favourite
songs.
The lights were then dimmed
the Guides Birthday Cake ap- .
.peared with 60 candles burning
brightly. The group sang 'Happy
Birthday' and proceeded to blow

their guests.
The evening ended with the
singing of Guides and then Brow-
nie taps.
The Brownies, Guides, Ran-
gers, Cubs, Scouts and their
leaders Joined the congregation
of the Presbyterian Church on
Sunday, February 22nd, to com-
memorate the birthday of Lord
and Lady Baden-Powell. Rev.
Mulholland spoke to the young
people about his interesting years
as a Scout in his native Ireland.
The two groups alsq com-
bined to put an interesting dis-
play in the window of Taylor's
Shoe Store. We'd like to thank
Mr. Taylor very much.
