bear-Sir:
In a case of the police or
radar stopping a car. I have
,seen-police go to the motorists
vehicle and the motorist going
to the poliCe vehicle. Is it not
the duty of the 'officer to go to the
motorist's car, or do you have
to go to the officer's car?
ANSWER:
The police officer is taught
to proceed_to the motorist's ve-
hicle, afid is even given instruc-
tions on how to do this properly.
I know from experience that
sometimes the officer does not
haVe time to get to the motorist's
, vehicle because the motorist gets
to the police vehicle first. This
is done for various 'reasons,
which I will not mention. The
only' time you have to go to the
police car is when you are under
arrest. -
QUESTION:,
Dear Constable:
I „drive a School Bus and I
know it is proper to back into
a laneway, but in winter I feel
it is better to drive over ac-
cumulated snow put in the drive-
way by the snow ploegh. What
is wrong with this_ practice?
ANSWER:
First, .you are, breaking a
good safety rule by not backing
in. The reason for backing in
is so that you can see if traf-
fic is coming when you are lea-
ving the driveway, instead of
putt-Mg the Tear portion, cg the
bus onto the roadway before you.
can see what is coming.' See
condly, the snowbanks just add
one more hazard to your driving,
-which you have to compensate
for.
QUESTION:
Dear Sir:
Can a School . Board erect
signs such as 'bus turning' on
provincial or county highways?
ANSWER:
The people responsible for
erecting signs on the Kings high-
ways' is the Department of High-
ways. If anyone wants signs erec-
ted, they would have to apply
.to the Ontario Department of
Transport and get permission,
first. The Departments of Trans-
port ^and Highways work very
closely.
QUESTION:
Dear sir:
During the past years I have-
observed our town volunteer Fire
Department proceeding to vari-
ous fires. am aware that it
is an emergency, but when they
leave town, or even in town,
there Is usually a long line of,
,vehicles following the fire truck.
I think this is a Very unsafe
practice. Is there anything ,you
can do to stop this practice?
ANSWER:
you are not 'the only one who
thinks it is an tinge() practice.
The lhw maker's felt it was inn-

a law, Mid it Is inetuded in the
