A highlight of the day was•
the girls' hoc'key game which fea-
tured a Seaforth team ,against a
Blyth team.
Seaforth came out on top of
the contest-7-4. Sheila Dietz was
the star performer of the game
as she Scored five goals, three
of them unassisted, to give Sea-
forth the win. Gail Nolan scored
the other two Seaforth goals.
There were three games
scheduled on the evening pro-
gram.

four weeks.•
In a dition to winning their
own spiels this year at the Sea-
forth Curling .Club, two other
rinks of Seaforth curlers took
the honors at the Clinton Legion
Bonspiel two weeks ago...

bonspiels. '
- A rink of local curlers, skip-
ped. by Cliff .Parker of Clinton
and including Harold Pryce, vice,
Bob Fotheringham, second and
Fred Gibson, took the top prize
at the annual Bean Growers Bon-
spiel in St. Marys. The rink won
all three games and edged out .
the second draw winner by one
quarter of a point to win the
grand trophy; In addition, they
received two mixettes, two knife

• Seaforth Community. Centre
was the scene of plenty of action
on Saturday, when well over 300
boys and girls took part in the
annual Minor• Hockey Day pro-
gram.
Teams from London, Toronto,
Forest and Blyth, as well as local
it teams,-tompeted throughout the
entire day,„entertaining the 400
spectators who were on hand.
Activities' got under way 'at
9:00 a,m. when . the Legion-
spOnSored house league com-
peted. Their activities continued
thrOugh until noon hour.
• At 1:00 p.m. the Seaforth
Mites and Adastral Park Mites
• get the afternoon program rol-
ling. Adastral Park scored late
in 'the first period to take a 1-0
Wad. Neither team could manage
a, goal during the remainder of
the game and Adastral Park took
* the honors in the Mite class.
Following the Mite game, the

The two teams battled to a 1-1
' tie in the first period. Steven
Southgate, with his first of two
goals, counted for Seaforth. The
teams remained deadlocked
through most of the second period
when each team scored once tp
wake the score 2-2. Don Nichol-
son was the Seaforth marksman.
Late in the period Toronto scored

• Nicholson and Southgate ,each
scored' in the early minutes of
the thfrd period to give Seaforth
a 4-3 edge. • '
Toronto retaliated with a goal.

Seaforth was not so fortunate
in the Midget game which fol•z
lowed. The Lakeview team gave
the local boys a tbugh battle and'
downed them 8-3. It was a close
contest until the third period

on hand at the 'Sealarth Curling
Club on Sunday" for a club social

rink, also undefeated, won the
teams and the PeeWees played
against London.
Seaforth Novices took their
contest 4-0 on goals by Doug,
Anstett, C. Rini-. Paul McClure
and R. Scott.
Likewise, the Seaforth Ban-
tams shut out the Forest Ban-
tams 4-0 in a later contest. Sea-
forth got goals from Steven South-
gate, Randy McClinchey, Bill
Salisbury and..lon Nicholson..
In the other contest the London
PeeWees edged Seaforth 3-1.
Following each guile,• mein-
bers of the Minor Hockey As-
sociation provided turkeyburgers
and 'milk to all the competitors.
Proceeds from the da will
go towards maintenance of the
minor hockey team.

tralia at a Men's Open Bonspiel,
Art Wright skipped his rink
to first place in the second draw.
He defeated Lee Learn of Exeter
in the first game by a narrow
margin of 7-6. 'He won the se-
cond game 9-8 in an extra end
to defeat Bill MacLean's Hensall
rink and advance to the final
round against a MacF arlahe rink
from London.
The rink scored an easy vic-
tory' in their final, game•against
'the youthful London rink.
Fred Elliott was vice, Jack
Sinclair played second and Elgin
Cox led for the winners. •
A second Seaforth rink, skip-
ped by Frank Case, •also finished
in the money. They were playing
in the' early draw and scored an
easy 15-2 win in their opening
game. TheY"played a London rink
skipped by Charlie Sheppard and
inc.uding the• boys from-the In-
dome Tax office. in London.
In their second garrie.they ran
into tough oppoSition from
another 'London rink, skipped by
Ralph 'Wagner. The local team
was defeated 9-3 by-Wagner who
went on to win the draw.
The, loss dropped the team to
the 'C' event where they played
the Kai Stub, rink from Forest
City Curling Club, London.
During the third game, Bill
Campbell, Jr. skipped and Frank
Case viced, Lloyd Rowat and
Jim Scott played second' and lead
respectively.
The rinks battled- through
seven ends to an 8-8 tie, until
Seafbrth took the final end -to
win 10-8. ^
The Wright rink won travel
bags and the case rink won tra-
vel alarm clocks.
While several rinks were
playing out of town, John Pat-
terson skipped his rink to victory
at the local club In the first
round of the O.C.A. Intermediates
competition. Two- other rinks
were .'involved at the local level,
one from C.F.B. Clinton and the
other from Reigrave. ,
C.F.B. eliminated Belgrave
in the first game and then lost
to Seaforth in the final.
Seaforth riaw advances to the
second- stage which will be played
Wingham this week.
Included on the rink are Dave
Brown skipped, his rink to an
easy 8-5 win last week to gua-
rantee his position on top of the
Thursday night early draw.
Murphy's rink beat' Reg Ball
10-5 for his 5th straight win to
become undisputed champion's of
the late draw.
Lloyd Rowat's rink won 6 ends
and defeated bon Tremeer's rink
7-3 to edge out John Longstaff's
rink by 1/2-point. Rowat finished
the five-game set 'on the early
Friday draw with 44 1/2 points.
Longstaff also won his game
"13-5 over Ned Boswell.
