Mitchell, celebrated their Golden
---,-Wedding '. Anniversary on
Wednesday, 'January 21, with a
family dinner and a few friends
at the Cosy Grill, Mitchell
Mrs, Norris was the former
Jean Chalmers, daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. A. Chalmers
of Poole, Ontario and Mr.Merris
was the son :of the late Mr.and
Mrs.James Norris of Fullarton
Township and Mitchell. Mr.
Morris recalled that the week
before the event, the district
had very heavy snow blizzards,
trains were blocked for nearly
a week.The late Rev.D.1, MacRae, '
Minister then of Knox Presby-
terian Church, Mitchell. accom-
panied Mac on the train to Strat-
ford to find that the track was
not cleared on the Northern' line.
Finally the snow plough came
through and they arrived -shortly '
before 6 p.m., the hour of the
wedding at the bride's parents
home. They were able to catch
the Toronto train for their trip
to Toronto and other,cities.
On their return they farmed
in Fullarton Township until
'Gaming to Mitchell in 1930. Mr.
Norris is a Past District De-
puty of South Huron District of
the Masonic Order, fal which he
has been and still is very active.
They are members of Main St,
United Church, Mr. Norris is
an Elder and 'Mrs, Norris is a
members ' of the Jean Blewett
Chapter, I. 0. D. E.,Mitchell.
Mr. Norris served several years
on the town council,
'they have two daughters,Mrs.
C.R.V , oyce)• Clarke,London and
Mrs. E. J. (Faye) IVIyers,Barrie.
and seven grandchildren. Mrs.
Norris has Otte sister, • Mrs.
Annie Campbell, Whitby. Mr.

Sunday's program, which ac-
cording to several competitors
was one of the best organized
events of the year, got under-.
way at 1:00 p.m.
' Marlen Vincent, vice presid-
ent of the Seaforth Snowmobile
Club, welcomed the crowd of
spectators and handled the an-
nouncing chores for the after-
noon program.
Five stock classes, five modi-
fied classes, two ladies events,
two Junior events and a Mayors
and Reeves race made up the
afternoon program. Some of the
classes required as many as six
separate races. Despite the heavy
turnout of competitors, the racing
program was conducted without
long delays.
Seaforth's Mayor Frank Sills
was the , winner in the featured
Mayors and Reeves event. Seaf-

There was a good attendance
Monday evening for the general
meeting of Northside U.C.W. The
president, Mrs.., Geo. Ribey,
chaired the business period.
Plans were 'made, for the Turkey
Supper to be served at the church
on February 10th. .
The prograrr.was in charge
of Unit -5. The Arshiu,servic,e
was led by Mrs. H. Parsoni and
Mrs. -Jack McLlwain. Rev. T.
C. Britton introduced Dr. R.
A.,'Whitman who'showed pictures
of Kenya, Africa, Which' he
visited in 1965 through the Cross-.
roads Africa Program. Dr.
Whitman had ^on display Mal-1y
souvenirs of. his visit. Mrs. G.
Sallows thanked the speaker for
his intereatipg • and informative
pictures. •

race through fields and bush,and
second prize in that event went
to Paul McCallum of Walton.
The wind-up to Saturdays
activities was the Winter Car-
nival Dance which took place at
the Legion Hall and was attended'
by more than 200 people.
Cars and trailers, some with
three and four snowmobiles on
them began arriving early on Sun-
day fOr the big racing program.
By 12:,,30 nearly 100 competit-
ors had been registered. In-
dividual competitors and whole
racing teams frcim as far as
Collingwood, Toronto, Tillson-
burg and many other centres
were attracted to the races which
late James Flynn and Mrs. Austin
Dexter and to Mr. and Mrs.David
Livingstone on the passing of her
brother.
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hoegy
of Clinton spent the week end with
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dale and
Cheryl.
Mr. and • Mrs. Jerry Riehl
and family of Huron Park visited
op Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ben
Riley and family.
The C.O. F. held their euchre
on Friday evening January 23rd.

Miss McGregor had taught'
French at Wingham High School
until she retired about .10 years_
ago and moved, to Clinton. She
was • active in the Wesley-Willis
UnitedLs Church, Clinton and a
w ths ago had been elected
president of the .Huron Cancer
Society. '
Miss McGregor was born in
Stanley township in 1899 a
daughter of the late Mr, and -
Mrs. Neil McGregor.
She was a graduate Of the
University of Toronto.
Surviving are four brcithers,
William Of Montreal, Frank,
Clinton, John 6f Stanley, Gregor
of Brucefield and a sister Miss
Margaret, Toronto.
Funeral services were held

porary entombment burial will.,
take place in Bhirds,,Cemetery.

points awarded during "the two
days' races.
Bruno Greulich of Galt was
named Carnival King having 'ac-
cumulated 28, points in the rac-
ing competition and Marlen Vin-
cent,. Vice president of the Sea-
forth Snowmobile Club presented
him with the King of the Racers
trophy,
Highlighting Sundays racing
Program was a. demonstration of
precision, and acrobatic driving
by the Massey-Ferguson 4:Red-
Rites". Also in attendance on
Sunday was the Bosch Racing
team, who provided banners,
number bibs and complimentary
spark plus to the drivers.

Wedding vows were exchanged-
Set Inquest
An inquest will be held in
Seaforth Town, Hall February 17
into the death of Kenneth Betties,
52, of R.R.1, Seaforth.
• Mr. Betties was one of two
men killed Dec. 30 in a head-,
on collision of two cars on'County
Road 12, a half mile North of
Seaforth.
The second- victim was Joh',
CaMpbell of Seaforth. Mr. Bet-
ties was alone in his ear.
Coroner Dr. Paul Brady will
preside.
