But none have lived as long as president you.

Because you wrote your thots so .

For them, we now remember you
So many things that you did say

The first campaign for funds
under the banner of its new syn.:-
bot - an evergreen tree with a
branch missing - is to be held
by The Ability Fund, new name
for the March of Dimes, in Sea-
forth, Egmondville and Bar-
purhey, in late Janu ary and early
February. General chairman ,is
Mrs. Gordon Papple and on her
committee are Miss Eleanor
Henderson, Mrs. James Rose,
Mrs. Charles Reeves and Mrs.
Joseph Grummett.
Mrs. Papple said that volun-
teers are needed to carryout
the canvass which she hopes will
exceed' last' years ^total of $653;
by at least ten per cent.,
'Work ' for the disabled has
,beef me our main 'objective' „said
Mrs. Papple. 'We carry mother
activities, such as sponsoring
research into some of the basic
causes: of disability, and pro-
viding appliances such as wheel-
chairs, crutches and special liftS
for, those, , handicapped Who are
not able to leave their homes to
work and, therefore, do not quali-
fy for such assistance by the
government.
'But finding out what abilities
a disabled person has and what
he is able to do with them. to
at least 'partially support him-
self - this is our main function.
The reason is our conviction
Raise Funds to
Assist Disabled
that' being able to do work of
some kind, and be paid for it,
is the best way to make a dis-
abled person feel he or She is
part of the community. And after
all, that's what rehabilitation is
all about - helping the handi,'
capped to join or l'ejokri society
and feel they belong to it along
with all their able-bodied neigh-
bors.'
To carry out its function, the
Rehabilitation Foundation for the
Disabled, which sponsorg The
Ability Fund campaign r usespsy-
chological assessments, work-
shops and job placement.
