With effect from 1 January;
1970 the-use of D.D.T. is banned
throughout Ontario except in
tobacco and apple growing and
then only on a permit basis.
Those with D.D.T. in their
possession must not .dispose of
it along with ordinary refuse or
flush it into drains or down wat-
er closets (toilets).
A diSposal program has
been arranged by, the Huyon
County Health Unit in co-opera-
tion with- the Ontario Depart-
ment of Health.

pose of D.D.T. Insecticide may
take it to any of the following '
collection centres from January

for 'same and send it to the

There were no inaugural
speeches at the first 'regular
meeting of the 1970 Hensall Coun-
cil,as_rnemhers moved into rou-
tine business by thereading and
adoption of the minutes Of the
previous meeting. ,
Town Foreman, E. R. Davis,
told Council in his report that
he had ploughed and sanded side-
walks when the need arose. He
thanked Council for the bonus
he had received at the end of
1969. Council was told Davis
had spent a considerable amount
of time disposing of rubbisitfrom
the basement of the Town Hall
and filling in floor spaces left by
the removal of 'old registers.
He had washed, the walls in the
library and as soon as the cei-
ling is wa,shed, will proceed to

Women's Hospital Auxiliary will
be held on Tuesday, January

Hospital at 8 p.m. Hospital Ad-
ministrator,. Gordon McKenzie,
and Director of Nursing, Mrs.
George , Ring, R.N., will attend
the meeting for our 'Question
and Answer Period' on the ad-
ministration of the Hospital.

Cascade plant. Reeve Jaques ag-
reed 'up to a point', but felt
he world like to wait and see the
'report of the County Planning
'and Development Board. Coun-
cillor Baker suggested Hensall
should have an Industrial com-
mission who• could in turn meet
with the property committee of
Coundil and investigate and make
a study of the area for future
housing.
By-law 41-1970 was given first
and second readings, but 'due to
the necessity to select one more
member for the Recreation,
Parks and • Community Centre
Board, will not receive final
reading until the February mee-
ting.
Bills and accounts in the am-
ount of $1,972.39, were ordered•
paid and the meeting adjourned
to, convene again on February 2,
1970.
