It has also helped farmers with the harvestingof their grain corn and with fall 'plowing. * _ .*....... * * * * Recovering at her home is Mrs. Dave Murray following recent surgery at St. Joseph's Hospital in London. Grace was able to return to Ripley on Monday of last week. She was accompanied by her ,husband Dave and Reg Moore who drove their car. Ripley area friends extend wishes for her continued recovery.. * * * * * While Grace .is at home recup- erating,. PHONE 523-4342.. * * * Mrs. Gordon Stanley, who has been a patient in St. Joe's Hospital in London, was recently transferred back to Kincardine and District Hospital. Popular ' Ripley ' businessman George McLean continues as a patient undergoing treatment at the University Hospital in London. Family members down to London this past week to visit with him included his ' wife Joy and her parents Mr. and Mrs. Redvers Johnson. Tending the store are his wife Joy and his ' mother Mrs. Jenny McLean. Ripley and area friends extend best wishes to George at this time. Last Sunday morning, November 10, the Remembrance Church service was held in Knox Presby- terian Church for the Ripley area with the minister of Knox, Richard Sand and Rev. Cecil Carnochan of St. Andrews United . in Ripley , in charge. ' There was a capacity crowd in attendance. The parade. made up of comrades ' of the Ripley -Huron Legion and, Legion Auxiliary, Lions, Brownies, Scouts and Cubs. formed up at the Ripley LegionHall with Russ Stanley the marshal) in charge.. In the flag or colour party leading the parade were Bill Tranter, Lloyd Wylds, Mrs. Barbara Paquette, Mrs. Pat (Russ) Stanley. Brenda van Koot- en, Pam Elliott, Larry and Bradley Nixon, John van Kooten and Scott McLean. * * *, * * * Jim Brooks has been busy this past two weeks getting the Ripley Diamond Jubilee arena ready 'for hockey and skating in the, coming winter. When over last Friday afternoon to see Jim, Kenny MacDonald had just finished help- ing Jim 'with a fresh ' flood on the new ice sheet. * * * •* * * Next door to the skating rink there are several people getting the ice sheets ready at. the Ripley Curling . Arena. A few of those doing this work are Wally Pollock, Don Paquette Jr. and Harry Coiling. Jerry and Sim Huber have removed the brick .wall of the Royal Hotel,* the east end of Howard Hodge's garage. The opening created by this operation has been dosed 'with plywood and at present materials are being assembled at the site to erect a new block wall. HAPPY HEARTS CLUB Crokinole. euchre and carpet bowling were enjoyed by the members of the Happy Hearts Club at their November meeting in the Legion Hall. Carpet bowling 'is new and members found it looked easy. but required a lot of skill. The equipment will be in the United Church hall on Monday afternoons. During the business portion, it was decided to have the program committee of the month be the vis- iting committee of the month.' Discussion Groups had everyone participating and made members realize ,each one has a responsibility to ' be a good citizen, have a good home and carry their Christian beliefs into the community.
