Settlement In Bruce County Gives
Teachers 12.5% Increase In Salaries
The Bruce County Board of
Education has ratified a one-year,
agreement giving its 200 secondary
school teachers salary increases.
averaging 12:.5 per cent.
Trustee Alan Whicher of Wiar-
• ton, chairman of the board's

the increases, retroactive to Sept-
ember • l , were necessitated by
"tremendous increases in the.cost
of living in the past year".
Mr. Whicher said negotiations
with the teachers; which had been
going on since March, meant the
settlement would put the board
slightly. over its 1974 budget for
`salaries.
Salaries for . starting teachers.
tange from $7,900 to $9,900, while
teachers with 14 or more ,years.
experience range from $14.800 to
$19.000.
Principals in schools with .less
than 1,000 students will get from
524.700 to 526,700 tan increase of
$1.400); and' principals With more
than 1,000 students'will range from
526.000 to 528.000 (an increase of
$4,000 annually).
