Citizenship meeting was held in
Whitechurch Community Memorial
Hall on Monday evening October
14.. The hostess Mrs. Robert Ross
welcomed the ladies at the door.
The president Miss Merle Wilson
opened the meeting with the Ode
and Creed.
The secretary Mrs. George Fisher
read the correspondence and gave
the financialstatement. it was
decided to send a quilt block to the
Erland Lee Home_ Arrangements.
were made for the pot luck supper
November 8 at 7 p.m. Delegates
to the Wiarton Rally are Mrs. Tom
Metcalfe and Mrs. Bill Rintoul. It
was decided to see if they could
borrow chairs for, the variety
concert if they need them.
Arrangements were .made for, the
December banquet. The Resolu-
tions to be presented at the
Kincardine Convention were read.
A •letter was read from Pinecrest
Manor and it was left in charge of
Mrs. Garnet Farrier to complete
arrangements as to entertaining
residents. The roll call was
answered by 16 naming a country
or city of Africa. Miss Wilson. gave
a Thanksgiving poem_
Current Events in Canada in
1974 were given by Mrs. Johnston
Conn and included, election, teach-
ers ban on strap. doctor situation at
Armstrong. Blyth planning Sr.
Citizen Home, death of police chief
Miller.
Mrs. Don Ross gave a piano solo.
Mrs- Elgin Johnston gave the
motto, We bleed in the same
colour, whether we are yellow,
black, white or brown. We are
alike, we love, -children suffer pain.
Let us teach our children that in 20
years or less they will be the people
who control the destiny of the
world. They will set standards and
do things we should have done.and
decide whether nuclear power shall
bring abundance or destruction.'

The topic Africa's struggle for
freedom was given by Mrs. Tom
Metcalfe. She said the name the
Dark Continent should be Big
Africa, when compared in size to
other countries. On the map she
showed where the Sahara Desert
is. She dearly described the
people. the country. rivers, their
food. They need help and .guidance
as to how to use food. Mrs.
Metcalfe conduded with a contest
won by Mrs. Don Ross.
The meeting closed with God
Save the Queen. 0 Canada and the
institute Grace. Lunch was served
by Mrs. Tom Metcalfe. Mrs: Elgin
Johnston and Mrs. Garnet Farrier.

Death Occured At
Wiarton Hospital
MRS. MARY SARAH BELL
Mrs. Mary Sarah Bell passed
away in the Wiarton hospital on
Tuesday, October 22, 1974.
Born Mary Sarah/ MacLean in
Huron Township, December 23,
1887, most of her life was spent in
Ripley and vicinity. She and her
husband the late John Bell also
resided in Toronto and Woodstock
and on retirement lived in Kincard-
ine. For the past five years she had
been a resident of Gateway Haven,
Wiarton.
She is survived by five daught-
ers, Margaret, (Mrs. William Eng-
land, Ottawa); Katherine (Mrs, A.
W. Jamieson, Woodstock); Annie
(Mrs. Ross Shiells, Lucknow);
Marion (Mrs. George Emerson,
Ripley); Tena (Mrs. Chester Camp-
bell, London); two sons W. J. Bell,
Amberley, MacLean Bell, St. John,
N.B.; three sisters, Mrs. Emma
Wylds, Mrs. Annie Wylds and
Mrs. Murdena Wylds; twelve
grandchildren and five great
grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted
on Thursday, October 24 from the
McLennan -McCreath . Funeral
