This was in the form of a Hallowe'en Party and each got to invite their grandmoth- ers and mother or friends of the family. Most everyone came in costume, to get everyone in the party theme. The party started with the 4-11 Grace with Joyce Osborne at the piano. A full course supper was served Buffet .style. This was prepared and served by the dub members with assistants of the leaders, Mrs.. Hamilton and Mrs. Elphick. The girls and leaders were thanked for their effort by Mrs. Osborne. This was followed by games and contests which was enjoyed by young and older. Costumes were judged by Mrs. Robt. Osborne and Mrs. Osborne with the winners as follows:. Most Comic, Wendy Hamilton; Most Hallowe'en, Mrs. Harold Elphick; Fancy Tie, Mrs. Jack McGuire and Mrs. Frances Wilkins; and contest winners were Mrs. Bert Alton and Mrs. Gordon Stobo. The party. closed with a business meeting called to order by the president, Lynn Elphick and was opened with the 441 pledge followed by the roll call "What I have gained from this project". The minutes of the last meeting were read by Kendra Elphick_ . The evening was closed with the 4- H creed. iq.w.wWv'.w..+R1::41:::1u4w.1x PAGE NINETEEN Handy Hostesses The seventh meeting of the Holyrood 4-H club was held on Wednesday, October 23, at Faw- throp's house. The meeting was opened with the pledge and the roll call was "one way to be a good guest". The minutes of the last meeting were read by Michelle Hodgins. .. Plans for the tea on November 9 and plans for Achieve- ment Day were discussed. There will be a work . meeting on Saturday, November 2, in Kin - lough. Mrs. Fawthrop demonstrated her talents on flower arranging and gave many helpful hints. The club discussed etiquette and worked on a skit. Refreshments were served. Eager Entertainers The seventh meeting of the Lucknow No. 2 Eager Entertainers was held on October 23 at .the Lucknow School. The meeting was opened with the 4-H Pledge. Seven girls and two leaders answered the roll call, "One duty as a pleasing guest". The secretary's report was given by Elaine Whitby. Mrs. Jim Boyle led a discussion about ` courtesy at club meetings. Plans were made for the club party, a Hallowe'en Tea. The Institute and the mothers of the 4-H members were invited to the tea. A meeting is to be held October 30' to plan the skit for Achievement Day. Mrs. Boyle instructed club members to have record books ready to hand in at the next meeting. This meeting was, held in the form of a banquet supper in which all mothers. friends and the Horne Economist. Miss Pengelly. were invited. The presidents of both dubs welcthued and thanked the guests for coming. Supper began with 4-H Grace. . The supper consisted of scalloped potatoes, baked beans, meat loaves, different salads. rasp-. berry chiffon, lemon -cranberry punch. tea and coffee. After the supper the meeting was held. Each giri answered the roll call "One thing we gained from this project". Nlarybelie Cranston read the minutes of the last meeting. Gail MacPherson played the piano and Marybelie read a reading. Miss Pengelly thanked the girls for inviting her to the supper. Mrs. Gordon MacPherson thanked the ff, girls for inviting all ' the mothers iI and friends_ The 4-H girls washed and dried the dishes er the supper and the meeting as over. Happy Hos sses The sixth meeting of Dungannon 1 4-1-1 dub was held on October 23.. at ` p.m. at the home of Mrs_ Maclnnes. The meeting was opened with the 4-H pledge_ This week's Secretary -Press Reporter is Annabel Stewart. The roll call was "an idea for an • original party `acute . Each member read her skit fav achievement day. The main discussion was on party food. For demonstration ,Arlene Travis and Annabel Stewart set a buffet table. Fur group work Betty Errington and Annabel Stewart made cup- cakes which everyone enjoyed. The next meeting will be held on October 30 at 7 p.m_ at the home of Nirs. Young in the form of a Hallowe'en Costume Party. 4H Results At Lucknow Fair Lucknow 4-H Calf Club results. from the achievement day at Lueknow Fall Fair. are: Junior Holstein calf, Das~id El - Nott placed first and fourth in showmanship.
