Attend District 10 Meeting
At Tiverton Monday
Ontario Associations of Agricul-
tural Societies for District 10 held
their annual Fall meeting in
Tiverton on Monday, October 28th
with registration starting at 11.
Mrs. Shirley Fortier led in a sing
• song and was accompanied by Mrs,
Doris .Bradley on the piano: Rev.
Leslie Carson was in charge of
devotional exercises and asked
Grace and spoke on sowing seeds.
He said it depended on how we sow
and reap the seed, what we will
get. Everyone enjoyed a luncheon
supplied by the Tiverton ladies.
Ken Reist, , 'District Director,
presided for the meeting. Eldred
Reid, Reeve, welcomed everyone to
Tiverton. J. P. Johnstone, warden
of Bruce County, brought greetings
from the county. He stated that the
Fall Fair is one place where town
and country people mingle togeth-
er. Mrs. Joan Taylor gave a
humorous reading "Husbands I'm
gladain't mine!" Mrs. Shirley
Fortier favoured with a solo
"Morning has broken".
Auditors were. appointed. Allan
Wedow read the minutes of the
Spring meeting which were approv-
ed as read. The men and ladies
divided for separate meetings.
Mrs. Eldred Reid chaired the
meeting for the ladies. Mrs. Bill
Arnold, Ripley was Secretary.
Election of officers took place:
Director, Mrs. Lloyd Stephens,
Feversham; Assistant Director,
Mrs. John Arnold, Mildmay; Sec-
retary, Mrs. Russel Hudson, Fever
ersham,
Mrs. Bill Arnold reported about
the judges workshop held earlier in
October. This was a very success-
ful workshop with 90 present.
There was an art display and
Adolph Eberl gave good and bad
Comments about the paintings.
Three bus loads of people enjoyed a
trip to Douglas Point Nuclear
Power, Plant where they watched a
film about the Plant and toured the
grounds. Don White, Public
Relations officer for Ontario Hydro
at Douglas Point explained and
answered questions about the
plant.
They returned to Tiverton to
continue the meeting. Mrs. Reid,
retiring director for the ladies,
commented on reports of fairs and
fairs she attended this fall which
numbered 18. She ended up with a
reading of different customs of
many countries . resulting from
Hallowe'en.
Ken Reist spoke briefly and
called on a report from Mrs, Lloyd
Stephens. She stated there was
122 ladies present at the meeting.
She thanked the ladies for the
meal, also Mrs. Reid and Mr. Reist
for a wonderful day.
BROWNIE
NEWS
The Brownies started their meet-
ing on Tuesday, October 22nd with
a game of "Statues", followed by
Brownie Ring. Anne Hamilton was
Fairy Queen, so she set out the
Toadstool. The Brownies hopped
Louis Grohlman reported for the
men's division. There were 40,men
present. He said there was going
to be some changes made in the
Field Crop Competition score
sheets.
Officers for next year are:
District Director, Ken Reist, Ayton;
Assistant Director, Mr. McKay,
Paisley; Secretary, Allan Wedow,
Hanover.
Auditor's report was read and
approved. The calendar advertis-
ing is to be continued again next
year, The Spring meeting will be
held in Chesley next year. The
convention will be held inToronto
at the Royal York February 16th to
21st, A motion was passed that 2
buses be chartered for the conven-
tion.
Meaford was the winner of the
Don Lemon Trophy. The meeting
dosed with 0 Canada. Those
representing Lucknow Agricultural
Society were Mrs. Bob Gilchrist,,
Mrs. Bob Struthers, Mrs. Ross
Errington and Glen Walden.

had three interesting things from
out-of-doors to show the Pack.
Tracey McDonagh had a collection
of dolls from different countries to
tell the Brownies about. Next
meeting will be a Hallowe'en Party
and three Brownies were asked to
