On Friday. October 2Sth a
birthday party was held ' at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Reed.
Lucknow, for their daughter Mrs.
Ben (Jeanne) Brown. Port Albert.
Present for the occasion were her
parents; her sisters Mrs. Forel
(Eunice) Cunningham of Rapid City
and Mrs. Archie (Birdie) Nicholson
of Lucknow; her daughter and
granddaughter .Mrs. Helen McIn-
nis and Connie of Orangeville: her
daughters and grandson Mrs. Ross
Daer, Mrs. Sandy Andrews and an
of Auburn. Later that day her
uncle Jack Webster of Edmonton.
and .her brothers Dick Reed from
Hazel Park and Howard Reed from
Windsor arrived. Sunday visitors
at the same home were Frank
Olheiser of Wingham. Mr. and
Mrs., W. D. Reed. Goderich and
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Webster of
London.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Brown and
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ross of Lucknow
and Betsy Henderson of London
have returned from a two week
tour. They flew from Detroit to
Phoenix. Arizo .a and then travel-
led about 2.'# 1 t miles by bus
through Mexico. Utah. Arizona and
California.. They flew home on
Saturday from San Francisco. By
accident they met Mr. and Mrs.
Allan Reed at the Bellevue Hotel
where they were staying in San
Francisco. The Reeds were
conducting another tour. Mr. and
Mrs, Brown visited her niece Mr.
and . Mrs. Roy Appleby of Los
Angeles. Mrs. Appleby is the
former Ruth. Linktater of Gotferich.
Miss Fay Hogan of Owen Sound
visited last week end with her
parents Mr. and Mrs. Con Hogan.
Ashfield.
Mrs. Ron Rothwell of Norwood
visited last week in Lucknow. She
was accompanied home by her
mother Mrs. Ed Thomwho will
visit in Norwood for a few weeks.

Mark Anniversary
On Saturday. October 14th, 22.
guests sat down to a turkey supper
Neild at the home of Eileen and Jim
Nesbitt of the 2nd concession of
Huron Township in honour of their
50th Golden Wedding. Relatives
and friends of former years attend-
ed. A lovely program was held
consisting of violin, piano and
saxaphone which everyone enjoy-
ed. Lovely gifts were presented.
On Sunday. October 20th. Open
House was held by Marion and J.
5. Robb in their home. afternoon
and evening. A large crowd
attended both times.
Those who poured tea in the
afternoon were the bride's sister
Jennie Brotchie, Nellie Wilson
from Brantford and Mrs. Bob
Brotchle, Georgetown.
In the evening Patsy Henderson,
Joyce Courtney. Margaret Humph-
rey and Clara .Shiells poured tea.

On 80th Birthday
Mrs. Evelyn Barkwell of Luck -
now was honoured on Sunday.
October 20th at a family gathering
in the Lucknow Legion Hall on .the
occasionof her 80th birthday, the
actual date of which is October
23rd.
Guests numbering 66 included
five sons and three daughters with
their families - Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Barkwell and family of
Dundas. Mrs. Harold (Irene) But-
ton and family of Barrie. Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Barkwell of West Hill,
Mr. and Mrs. Harry (Mae) Smith
and family of Toronto, Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Barkwell and family of
Scarborough. Mr. and Mrs. George
'(Alice) Taylor and family of Otta-
wa, Mr; and Mrs. David Barkwell
and family of WilIowdale, Mr. and
Mrs. Lloyd Barkwell and family of
Scarborough; her sister-in-law
Mrs. Bob (Sadie) Hamilton of
Lucknow; friends Mrs. Margaret
MacLennan and . Miss Annie Mac-
Leod of Lucknow; and nieces and
nephews.
The Ladies Auxiliary to the
Legion catered for the dinner.
Mrs. Barkwell is the former
Evelyn Hamilton, daughter of
Robert Hamilton and Susanna Cook
of Paramount. Her husband
Gilbert Barkwell died a number of
years ago.
