Mrs. A. R. Finlayson of
Lucknow, whb is a patient in
Wingham and Y District Hospital,
marked her 94th birthday Saturday
while in hospital. Mrs. Finlayson
has been .a resident for some time
of the Cosy Cottage Nursing Home,
north of Whitechurch. She recently
suffered a broken ankle which
caused her to be hospitalized.
THAT
Sally Pollock of Ripley was the
winner Monday of a new pair of
Bauer hockey skates at a draw at
Cartwright's'Shoe Store in Walk-
erton.

Women's .Institute, Nancy Brown,
June Alton and Marguerite Sand-
erson; accompanied Mrs. -Harvey
Houston of Lucknow, Public Rela-
tions Officer with the Federated
Women's. Institute of Ontario, to
the Junior W.I. Conference, held at
Scott's Corner W.I. Hall, near
Sheffield, in the Galt area, on
Saturday, ` October 5th.Mrs.
Marion Feldskov: Fordwich also
attended.
The guest speaker was John
Huether, who had been to Africa on
the Canadian University Students
Overseas tour . (CUSO) for • two
years. He gave a most interesting
illustrated lecture. Dr. Ethel
Chapman, Toronto, and Miss Jean
Scott, Port Elgin, two former
advisers of Jr. W.I., were honored
with gifts and honorary member-
ships. Mrs. Barbara Flewelling, a
home economist, presented slides
and information on Home Furnish-
ings.
A. most enjoyable afternoon was
spent on a tour of the African Lion
Safari . near Rockton. The Junior
Women's Institute bridge the gap
between 4-H clubs and the Wom-
en's Institute. Members and those
interested are always welcome.
They are between the ages of 16
and 30 years.

Mr. and Mrs. Jelle de Jong
returned from Holland on Friday,
were they had visited for the past
three weeks and also attended the
funeral of Mrs. de Jong's aunt.
Mrs. Peter Edisbury returned
last Wednesday from England
where she had visited her father,
who died shortly after her arrival.
We extend our sympathy to Mr.
and Mrs. Edisbury and family.
Rev. H. L. Jennings was a dinner
guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Wm. Haldenby on Sunday.
Murray and Dale Gilchrist enter-
tained their young friends on the
occasion of their ' birthdays last

Nolda Miltenburg, Reg. N., has
returned from a vacation in Holland
visiting with her grandfather and
other relatives.
Mrs, Earl Drennan is a patient in
St. Joseph's Hospital, London
where she underwent surgery last
week. We wish her a speedy
recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Courtney
spent the week end in Kitchener
and attended the wedding of a
friend.

with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
