The colt was the get of Mr, Wellwood's celebrated Clydesdale stallion ',McGregor," from a mare imported by Mr. Wellwood. He is the finest colt of his class we ever saw, and tipped the beam at 1500 pounds. Re is only twenty- lnenths old, and with proper care will develop into a magnificent horse. Mr 'Wellwood retains his two imported stallions, "McGregor" and "Edmond." These horses have proven themselves superibr stoel:;gette;it, their get turn- ing out well. Mr. Wellwood also does ,considerable in thoroughbred cattle and pigs. The Council met on Match 15th, 1$90, 1iea,bers all present excepting the Deputy -Reeve. After confirming the minutes of former meeting, the Treasurer's statement for February was read, showing balance and receipts of $262.14 and expenditure $122.40. Communications from the Tp Solicitor re Rose suit, were read and placed on file. A. communication from R Mor- rison, re drain on cons 12 and 13, was read. Moved by Mr Bailie, seconded by Mr Gibson, that thid communica- tion lie over till next meeting,. .and that iu the meantime Messrs ..and and Lockhart ascertain if the portion of work assigned the township is properly done—Carried. A. petition, signed by Jas Young and n 9 towardother ratepayers, asked for a g the support of Mrs Stin:ion, a widovv `with five small children,in destitute cieeulnatances—$20 was placed in the hands of Messrs Young and. Caldwell, to be expended inbalingf of Mrs Stin- son. Messrs Young and Caldwell also presented a petition signed 'by 76 ratepayers; asking the council to form another polling sub -division, having. the polling •place in Auburn. The petition was favorably received and left over for further consideration, Moved by the Reeve, seconded by Mr 'Bailie, that the Auditors' report be reconsidered-•= Carried.
