The October meeting of the St.
Augustine Catholic Women's Lea -
was held Tuesday, October
1st at 8.30 p.m. in the St.
Augustine Rectdry with 10 mem-
bers present. Father Dentinger
• opened the meeting with the
• League Prayer.
The president, Mrs. Wm. Kina-
han presided, Mrs. Wm. Redmond
• read • the minutes of the last
meeting. Mrs. Cyril Boyle read the
correspondence, a thank you letter
from John Franken, •Mrs. Jim
Leddy and Mrs. Jim Finleon and an
invitation from Auburn C.W.L.
ladies t6 attend their Thankoffer• -
ing.
Mrs. Joe Hickey gave •the
• treasurer's report. Mrs. Gus
Redmond reported two get well
• cards sent out to Julien Delbergue
and Mrs. Jim Leddy. •
'Interesting reports were given of
the Deanery meeting that was held
September 18 by Mrs. Wm.
Kinahan, Mrs. Gus Redmond,
Mrs. Cyril Boyle. It is CNIB time
again and C.W.L. ladies are
canvassing. Two days of recollec-
tion was decided on, to be held
. November 16-17. Father Sullivan
• is to be guest speaker.
• It was decided that the C.W.L.
would get new material to make
new vestments.
• It was moved and seconded that
C.VV.L. ladies would see to it that a
shower would be held for girls of
the parish and also each girl or boy
of the parish would receive a gift
from the C.W.L.
Father Dentinger spoke on the
power -of the church and its prayers
and read the story of Ruth. The
meeting was adjourned by Mrs.
Hickey.• Father Dentinger closed
with prayer. Lunch was served by
the hostess.

Women held their October meeting
on Tuesday at 2,p.m. at the home of
Mrs. Dave Gibb. Mrs. Garnet
Farrier and her committee, Mrs.
Bob Adams and Mrs. Betty
Flannigan, were responsible for the
worship service. The theme of the
service was Thanksgiving. The call
to worship was "The Lord of the
Harvest ' ' . ,
All sang, "Count your bless-
ings". Mrs, Bob Adams read the
• scripture. Mrs. Betty Flannigan
gave a story, "Take Nothing for
Granted". Mrs. Garnet Farrier
and others assisted in reading from
the StudyBook, Mission Impos,
sible. • A discussion followed on
,Holy Trinity hurch, • downtown
Toronto whether to go back to the
old traditions or stay modern to
cater to • today's young people.
Mrs. Bob Adams closed the
worship serice with prayer.
• Mrs. Albert Coultes gave the
treasurer's report. • The minutes
were read by Mrs. Dave Gibb and
approved. Mrs. Milian -Moore
asked for suggestions as to how to
celebrate the 50th anniversary of
church union. The roll call was
answered by 12 ladies givingtheir
favourite recipe and placing a
sample in the travelling basket.
The 'collection was received. The
group are invited to Trinity Church,
Ashfield at 8, p.m. October 20.
All sang, "The changing year".
Mrs. Moore closed the meeting
with prayer. All then gathered
round the Travelling Basket and
purchased what they wished.

Mrs. Bert Alton was hostess for
twenty members and one visitor at
the meeting of Unit 3 Lucknow
U.C.W. on October lst.
Mrs. 'Glen Walden read a poem
"Lord of the Harvest" and after
singing "Bringing in the sheaves"
the Lord's Prayer was repeated.
Mrs. E Bradley, in charge of the
worship service, used Thanksgiv-
• ing as the theme. She commented
on the difference in methods of
harvesting in Bible times and now.
Part of Psalm 103 was read in uni-
son and a commentary was given

by Mrs. W. Drennan. 'Thanksgiv-
ing' • is . hest demonstrated by
"Thanks living". Mrs. J. Mac-
Murchy led in prayer. The offering
was received and dedicated by
Mrs. Walden. The roll call was
answered by giving donations to
• the Blanket Fund amounting to
$12.50. •
• An invitation was received from
Trinity • U.C.W. to 'attend their
Thankoffering October 20 at 8 p.m.
The November roll call for Unit 3 is
to be a written suggestion for 1975
programs. Mrs. Chas. McDonald
made arrangements for food and
helpers for the hot supper October
22. Mrs. J. Ritchie —reporte-Vfor
Community Friendship and Mrs.
E. Wightman' for supply, reported
a bale of 55 lhs. used clothing sent
to Angola and other boxes of
clothing to the Salvation Army.
Readings, given by Mrs. Chas.
McDonald and Mrs. E. Taylor were
"Let us give thanks" and Thank
you Lord". A solo "I asked the
Lord" was given by Mrs. Eunice

Langside Y.P.S.
WHITECHURCH NEWS
On Sunday evening Langside
and Whitechurch Y.P.S. met at
Langside church.
The meeting opened with the
Singing of favourite hymns. Cecil
de Boer had charge of the service.
He read the scripture and led in
prayer. His topic was "If he came
from a high society *Where they nev-
er heard of God and everything was
from a scientific origin how eould
they prove to him there was a
God".
A game was then played. Lunch
was served.
• Arrangements were then made
for attending the Y.P.S. Conven-
tion being held at Dresden Friday
to Monday.

Mrs. Bradley gave an interesting
talk on 'Count Your Blessings'. In
it she gave a brief outline of the
observance of Thanksgiving from
the time of the Pilgrim Fathers.
They endured great hardship and
were sincere in their thanksgiving.
With the many blessings we enjoy,
every day should be. a Thanksgiv-
ing day.
• The singing of "Count your
many Blessings" brought the
meeting to a close. F•ah person
had been given a paper IK which to
list, particular blessings this past
year, and these were read at lunch
time.
