(Elementary. and T.R. schools.)..
Interim approval was given to
the location of the proposed three
Horne Economics and Industrial
Arts Centre at. Exeter Public
School.' Brussels Public School and
Turnberry Central Public School.
Turnberry P.S. would serve the
northern 'schools (Brookside, How-.
ick and Wingham). In discussing
the future conStruction.• it was
suggested that possibly .the board
should consider speeding up the
proposals and plan for all Horne
Economics and Industrial Centres
to be built in 1975 as the cost of
construction was increasing • at a
rate of 15 per cent each year. At
the present time construction is
costing about $30. per square foot.
'There is an Ontario -wide short-
age of teachers, members of the
Huron County Board of Education
learned recently. While teaching
summer school, Robert Allan, one
of the four Superintendents of
education, had , talked to quite
a number of principals who had
difficulty in, filling vacancies on •
their staffs. It's a generalized
problem in both elementary and •
secondary schools, but as the jobs
become more specialized they are
more difficult to fill: The over-
supply of teachers in recent years
has probably cut down on those
entering the profession, along with
the increasing qualifications • re-
quired to teach in the province.
Bus drivers are needed for board
owned buses at Brookside. Salary -
$13.00 per 'day for 185 days
($2,405.) plus 10 days sick leave.
Interested applicants (men and
women) are asked to contact the
Transportation Manager, • Robert
Cunningham, Huron County Board
of Education. •
Commencement Exercises at F.
E. Madill Secondary School will be
held on Friday. •November 8th,
1974.
The board awarded the tender of
six new school 'buses to Clinton
Chrysler .Plymouth of Clinton for
$101,307. or $16,884.50 each). .
This firm was the only one to
submit a firm- price in writing, the
other five firms did .not, . Two of
these new buses will be at
Brookside to . replace the 1967
buses..
