The fire whistle sounded on
Sunday evening near the end of
the Lucknow-Ripley intermediate,
softball game and several left the,
park for 'the fire at the time.
The Zone 9 Senior Citizens' .Pic-
nic was held on July 10th at Harris -
ton Park in Owen Sound on a per -
fect.day weather-wise. Ripley
members went on a Bruce Coach
Lines bus and joined 17 other Clubs
who also came by bus. The fore-
noon was spent in games and al-
most everyone had an' opportunity
to participate. Ripley came
close to winning at times but
didn't'quite manage it. Bud,
Bitton•of the Sports and Recrea-
tion Branch. acted as'Chairman.
Clare Christie of,Owen Sound and
others assisted him The noon
lunch break in the Park was most
restful and enjoyable and many
enjoyed walking about this lovely
park.
Following. lunch, folks again .
gathered around the platform
which •was gaily decorated with
Club Banners, for the afternoon
concert. -Each Club contributed
some entertainment and very fine
entertainment it proved to be. .
Violins. guitars, mouth organs,
a solo, and readings and even a
skit added up to an interesting
program, Mrs. Violet MacKen-
zie delighted everyone when she
played some Scottish numbers on
the piano as Ripley's contribution.
Some time to shop in the plaza
completed a most enjoyable day.
Next trip will be to the Canadian
National Exhibition.
