Special Services
SEMINARS
People of the Ripley area will
long remember the third week of
June in 1974. Onthe first Sunday,
Gordon Hunter began a week of
addresses and seminars at Carrick
Camp. Those who attended were
presented with a spiritual insight
and a faith to live by every day.
The largest crowd was there on
the second Sunday afternoon. No
one could attend and not receive
spiritual help..
LONDON SPEAKER
Then on Wednesday, a group
from Ripley, Kincardine and Luck -
now joined one of the., five buses
which left Owen Sound to hear
Katherine Kuhlman in Allan
Gardens, London. ,Many had
heard of her power given her by
the Holy. Spirit but many were a
bit skeptical. Seeing is believing.
As Katherine Kuhlman said, "No
one who is here will ever be the
-same." She feels the power of
God is moving on earth as it
hasn't done for years and wonder-
ful things are going to
happen.
KINLOSS CENTENNIAL
And then carne Kinloss United
Church "Centennial on June 23rd.
The members of the congregation
and friends had been \preparing for
months. .The church was beauti-
fully re -decorated, a new organ
and piano purchased and a Cen-
tennial Tree planted. The organ,
piano and tree were dedicated at -
the evening service. Rev. Martin
Rule, a former pastor and now in
Hagersville, was special speaker.
In the morning he spoke on what
it means to be, a church
member stressing need of disciple-
ship, sacrifice and service. In
the . evening, he spoke on "How to
be a truly human being". It is
God's wish and His plan that
Christ should live through us. We
become truly human beings as we
relate to God. Special music was
provided by an octette from Chal-
mers United Church, Gordon
Bridge from the former Clarke
congregation and the Junior choir
of Kinloss. Mrs. Jas. McEwan
presided at the organ and. Mrs.
Duncan Campbell at the piano.
A delicious noon meal was prov-
ided by the Kinloss congregation.
The Centennial cake was
served after the -evening seryice.
It was a day of happy reunion and.
thankfulness that the church
was very much alive after 100
years of service.
