Again it was, an early rising as
the bus left Bancroft. at 7 .a; m, on
Saturday morning. An hour was
allowed in North Bay for lunch
and Shopping -. Continuing on,
the bus arrived in Sudbury at 3
p.m. The band took part in the
Lions Convention Parade which
was scheduled for 4 p.•rn. The
band rode on a float which was
built and decorated by. the Luck-
now Lions. The float advertised
the. Lucknow Reunion and the fact
that hockey players Paul Hender-
son and Andy Whitby came from
Lucknow. The float also pulled
the famous Lions bathtub driven
by Lion Grant Chisholm.
The band boarded the' bus about
6.3.0 for the long trip home. The
bus stopped near Alliston for 'sup-
per and arrived at Lucknow at
2.4E1 a .m. Sunday. EVeryone
had a fun filled three days.
Cecil Garniss drove the bus and
'the band had the loan of Dr. Jack
McKim's station wagon. This
was driven most of the way by
Denver DiCkie.
This trip was made possible
through the united efforts of the
people of this community when
they 'supported the. Lions Club
dance held to raise funds for the
trip and also, through attendande
.at the band concert on May 4th.
Excellent support has also been
given' by the. Bruce County Board
of Education in Chesley over the
past five years.
The fine :reception given to
the Lucknow band in Minden, Ban-
croft and Sudbury did a great deal
for the egos of all members and
their leader in making them feel
all of their efforts in practice and
work in the band was appreciated.
By the applause which they receiv-
ed , this appreciation was felt by
all.
