Again it was, an early rising as the bus left Bancroft. at 7 .a; m, on Saturday morning. An hour was allowed in North Bay for lunch and Shopping -. Continuing on, the bus arrived in Sudbury at 3 p.m. The band took part in the Lions Convention Parade which was scheduled for 4 p.•rn. The band rode on a float which was built and decorated by. the Luck- now Lions. The float advertised the. Lucknow Reunion and the fact that hockey players Paul Hender- son and Andy Whitby came from Lucknow. The float also pulled the famous Lions bathtub driven by Lion Grant Chisholm. The band boarded the' bus about 6.3.0 for the long trip home. The bus stopped near Alliston for 'sup- per and arrived at Lucknow at 2.4E1 a .m. Sunday. EVeryone had a fun filled three days. Cecil Garniss drove the bus and 'the band had the loan of Dr. Jack McKim's station wagon. This was driven most of the way by Denver DiCkie. This trip was made possible through the united efforts of the people of this community when they 'supported the. Lions Club dance held to raise funds for the trip and also, through attendande .at the band concert on May 4th. Excellent support has also been given' by the. Bruce County Board of Education in Chesley over the past five years. The fine :reception given to the Lucknow band in Minden, Ban- croft and Sudbury did a great deal for the egos of all members and their leader in making them feel all of their efforts in practice and work in the band was appreciated. By the applause which they receiv- ed , this appreciation was felt by all. Make Plans To Choose Queen Of The Community Plans to choose the •Queen of Lucknow are in progress. This.. year the queen will not only be Queen of the. Fall Fair but also Queen of the Old Boys Reunion. The big evening for the girls will be Friday, June 28, and will start with the Agricultural Society play "Everybody's Crazy" follow- ed by the judging of the Queen. On the same evening it is also planned to have the judging of the beard contest. This is the open- ing event of the Lucknow Reunion. The girl who wins has a very exciting year ahead of her. Her reign as Queen will start with the Old Boys reunion. This September she will be Queen of. the Lucknow Fall Fair and will represent Luck- now in the Miss Mid Western Ont- 'ario Contest. She will have, an opportunity to associate with, Miss Dominion of Canada the day of the fair: The winner of the 'Miss Mid Western Ontario Contest will go to the Miss Dominion of Can- ada contest. The Queen will/also represent GODERICH MAN CONTINUED FROM PA-GE 1 Canadian Air 'Force at the Clinton station. He was discharged in 1970 and has lived in Goderich since then. He 'is the manager of the Park Theatre and the Mustang Drive-In Theatre in Goderich. Guest speaker was Mark Mc- Guigan, member of the last Par- liament for Windsor-Walkerville, Amberley Native Died In 94th. Year HECTOR MacLEAN Angus Hector MacLean of Brucelea Haven and formerly from Amberley passed away on Monday, May 20th at Walkerton Hospital in his 94th year. Mr. MacLean,was the last member in a family of seven of the late Donald Ewan MacLean and Isabella MacLennan, who took up land at Amberley over one hundred years ago. . Hector at the time of'his death still owned the family farm but had been a resid- ent of Brucelea Haven in Walker- ton for three years. Mr. MacLean was predeceased by his wife the former Lily Lane , MacLean of Kintail in 1972. He/ is survived by two daughters Lil- lian, Mrs. Charles Schilroth of London and 'Lois, Mrs. McCreath of Kincardine and five grandchild- ren. The funeral service was con- ducted on Wednesday , May 22 at MacLennan's Funeral Home, with Rev. Weir of Kincardine Pres- byterian Church officiating assist- ed by Mr. Richard Sand , the stud- ent minister at Ripley and Ash- field Presbyterian Churches.' Pallbearers for the late Mr. MacLean were four nephews Walter 'Willets , Donald MacLean, Allan MacLean, Archie MacMil- lan and two neighbours from Amberley, Howard Robb and Dun- can Thorburn. Burial was at Greenhill Cemet- ery in Lucknow„ guclmow Agricultural Society at their convention in Toronto in February. There she will meet all the' Queens from the other fairs. The climax olthe Queen's year comes in August 1975 when the Queens from all the Fail Fairs go to, the Canadian National' Exhibi- tion. At the C. N. E. the girls are judged for Queen of the Fair of Ontario. The experiences they have and the friends they meet will linger with the Queens for- ever. Gifts will be given to the girls and all expenses will be paid. The Queens of Lucknow since Canada's Centennial in 1967 who entered in the Miss Dominion of Canada contest on Fair Day .are: Barbara Whitby 1967, Nancy Cor- rin 1968, Lynda Walden 1969, Valerie, Morningstar 1970. Lynda Stanley 1971, Bev MacPherson 1972, Karen Elliott 1973. Any girl who is interested and would like more information could talk with the past winners, the secretary pf the society Mrs. Ross, Errington or any Agricultural Soc- iety member.
