HOLIDAY IN HOLLAND • . Mr. and Mrs.. Lammert Van der Veen are holidaying in Holland with relatives. They left from Malton on Sunday and plan to be away for,about a month. Good luck Wendy. • Dan Wylds spent the past winter in Ripley 'with his son and wife - Lloyd and Jean Wylds. However note-, for several weeks, he is back home at his house on the. 12th concession of Ashfield.' Dan, now 88, enjoys all the beautiful things of nature around his place in its picturesque setting of ever- greens and the nearby sugar ' maple bush on the pasture, farm belonging to Bob McIntosh - the farm reported at one time was owned by the late S. T.. Jackson of Ripley and Sea forth: In a recent note Dan tells how he enjoys the different songs of the birds and the sightings of the animals in the woodlot. Dan re- calls the saying cornnion in the time of the rural schools - "The 24th of May - the Queen's birth- day - if we don't get a holiday, we will.all run away". Mr .and Mrs. George Conn and family left' on Saturday, after spending a week here, for Mont- real from where they board a plane for her home in Belgium. We are sorry, to report that Johnston Conn had to be transfer- red from ,Wingham Hospital, to University. Hospital on Friday.
