The 4-H girls Achievement
Day was held at Brookside School,
Ashfield on Saturday when the 18
girls of Zippy Trinettes took part.
Barbara. Wilkins received her ad-
vanced honours which means she
completed 18 clubs.
Mr. and Mrs. Chris Brown,
Heather and Lee Anne of Brantford
visited one day last inieek4t the .
home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rit-
chie.
Donna Ritchie of Owen -Sound'
spent the week end at the home of
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. 'Harvey
Ritchie and Mel. Donna called on

• The Maitland Valley Conser-
vation Authority is an active par-
ticipant in the Ontario govern-
ment S.W.E.E.P. program again
this year,
The program has begun With
the appointment of a project
Senior Supervision, and three fore-
men who will oversee work crews
of about five students each during
the summer.
Don Pearson of Ethel, a third ,:
year biology student at, the Univ-
ersity of Waterloo, will again fill
the Senior Supervisor position,
while Blake Ferguson of Gorrie,
Gary Kaulback, of Jamestown and
Kathy Work of Brussels will .
assume responsibilities as foreman
Blake has completed 2 years
Of environmental biology at the
University of Guelph and is spend-
ing his second summer with. M.
V.C.A. Gary is a graduate of
Wilfred Laurier University with a
degree in Geography. He has
served as a co-worker in an O.
F.Y. project which showed the
role of the farm to city children.
Kathy joins M.V:C.A. after
working last year in S. W.E.E.P.
for the Credit Valley Conserva-
tion Authority.
The foremen will spent 2
weeks familiarizing themselves
with the Authority, working in
clean-up activities and practising,
the safe and proper handling of
tools. They will also spend one
week in training-at Dorset before
assuming their dutiei upon the .
arrival of S. W.E.E.P. labourers
around June 24.
,The Students Working in an En-
vironmental Enhancement Pro-
gram will be involved in'cleatrrup
operations and, development pro-
jects on Authority lands and for
the member municipalities and
townships within the Maitland
watershed:
Helm had a visit from a. girl
friend', Lillian Michell of Guelph.'
A number of ladies of this com-
munity attended a bridal shower
for Joan Anderson of Lucknow
in the United Church basement
Sunday afternoon.
Mrs: Mary MacAuley of Cen-
tennial Manor in Milton came on
Sunday to spend one week at the
hOrne of her daughter. Mr. and ,
Mrs. Frank Ritchie. •
Farmers are busy part of last
week and this week on the land
planting their spring grain.
Barbara Wilkins had her school
girlfriend , Mary Schkura and her
mOther, Mrs. Jake Schkura of
Walkerton on Saturday and attend-
ed the Achievement Day at Brook-
side School. -
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilkins
visited her aunt, Mrs. Roy Hud-
son of Brussels, Sunda,y afternoon

The Credo Chorale of which„
some of the Carillon Ringers are a
part, was formed in the fall of
1972, and have participated in the
regular Sunday Worship Services
and special programs in other
churches.
Music is an integral part of the
worship and Christian Education
programs at Park Church.
There are seven choirs for child-
ren , youth and adults, including
two handbell groups.
The purpose of the tour is not
only to sing and ring music for
church groups, but also to give
these youth a chance to meet
people from other churches, for
broadened understanding of other
churches, and interaction with
other youth grotips.
Of local interest is the fact that
Don and ,Ann Treleaven, son and
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Treleaven of Beaver and grand-
children of Mrs. Harold Treleav-
en of Lucknow , are former mem -
bers of the group. 14-year-old
Torn Treleaven is presently a
metrther:.of the junior group but it
is the senior group which will
visit Lucknow •
