Metz- ger, R. R,,'3 Lucknow. A crowd of approximately 250 people gathered at the Dungannon Christian Fellowship church on Sunday, May 12 to join them in their dedication celebiation. The Fellowship officially ,became .a recognized congregation of the Mennonite Church. . Guest speakers were Rev. Ray Erb of Listowel and Rev. Newton Gingrich of Tavistock. Acknow- ledged guests were Rev. Council stated that residential development was now the more . important item in increasing the village tax base. Reeve Joynt stated that an in- dustrial survey is on file at the town office and that the clerk and assessment commissioner could verify this fact. The Reeve said, "As far as Mr. Delaney is concerned, the Ontario Government has created the in- dustrial monster in the Toronto and Hamilton area, where the government has promoted and encouraged industrial expansion in a 60 mile radits," "The rest of us are considered in a green belt area and there is no way that secondary industry , can compete in this area today". Council decided to do a tour of inspection for sidewalks and the tree planting The May 'Meeting of the Mait- land Presbyterial Society held afternoon and evening sessions in Knox Presbyterian Church, Ripley, on May 13 , the themes being "Power and "Reap" respectively. Mrs. Doug Martyn. presided at the organ and Mrs. J. W. English chaired both assemblies. Devotions in the afternoon were conducted by Mrs. Ira Dickie, 'Mrs. Bruce ,Hamilton and Mrs. Lloyd MacDougall of South Kinloss, and inthe evening by Mrs. H. Congrani, Mrs. Ralph Nixon, Mrs. C., Wood of Wing- ham. Visitors,were welcomed by V'Mrs: Geo. Sutherland and Mrs .. J. MacLean. Mrs. Evan Keith's fin- ancial report added a note , of cheer as it revealed considerable increase in givings thus far. A highlight of the afternoon was the presentation of Honorary Life MemberShp Certificates, one to Mrs. ,Donald Rae of Wingliam by Mrs. T. A. Currie, a second to Mrs. Morgan Henderson Of Luck now by Mrs. Jas. Little of Luck- now and a third, donated by ' Alvin' Mundell, was presented. by Mrs. Alvin Mundell of Belmore ,to Mrs. Jas. Smith. of Lucknow. An Honorary Life.Membership'.pin, donated by Mrs. Jas. Brisbin of Pickering, was presented to Mrs. Smith by Mrs. Wm. Henderson of Woodstock. Mrs. Mundell, Mrs. Brisbin and Mrs. Henderson are step-daughters of Mrs. Smith. Mrs. Jas. Little presented an Honorary Life Membership pin to' Mrs. Mor- gan Henderson on behalf of the Afternoon Auxiliary of the W. M.S. of the Lucknow Presbyterian Church who donated the pin. Greetings from Presbytery were ' expressed by Rev. R. H. Arm- strong. Synodical reports from Mrs. Robt. Arbuckle, Mrs. Jas.. Little, Mrs. Ewan MacLean, Mrs. Bruce Hamilton, Mrs. Jos. Martin, Mrs. Keith Evans, Mrs. Ralph Nixon and Mrs. Glenn Noble proved interesting and infOrma - five. Reports showed that many new books are available; regard- ing supplies, the money situatio is being stressed More now and:it may come in at all seasons; good used clothing will still be accepted at Evangel Hall, Scott Mission, and Goderich Psychiatric Hospital; each W. M. S. member is a V.IJ‘.•and every church group should be composed of folk of all ages to overcome the generation gap; some congreg- ations do not sponsor any junior groups; good leadership is a prime , need in all groups; books are not being used enough; C.P.C. and Explorers have decreased in num- bers; the Glad Tidings is used by less than half of the W.M.S. members; monetary support should be given to the Bible Society, in memoriam , etc. after allocations have been met. Mrs. Mel Ritchie introduced the guest speaker Mrs. J. M. Burnett , Council President, who, in the afternoon, spoke on What is Discipleship? , and it the even- ing showed slide's of her world tour as she commented interesting- ly on them. She pointed out that discipleship involves loyalty to a cause, expects the responsibility of service, shares faith, gives love, makes use of one's talents, has a job to 00, makes use of each opportunity, requires much of each of us, gives a need to exist. Duets by Mrs. Alvin Mundell and Mrs: Bruce Darling, also by Misses Flora Simpson and Diane MacKenzie added much to the en- joyment of the day. In Mernoriam for those mem- bers who have passed on was con- ducted by Mrs. Barr, Kinlough.. Mrs. Jas. West and Mrs. Colin MacIntosh gave the .offeratory prayers, while closing prayers were taken care of by Mrs., Young, Langside, and Miss Sadie Johnston. A member from teeswater extend- ed courtesy remarks. Rekignation was received of Mrs. Walter Ballagh as secretary of afternoon groups. Mrs. Findlay MacLeod 'will be camp delegate June 14-16. Plans are being made for the Tall Board Meeting on Sept- ember 9 at Langside; the 1975 Presbyterial in Teeswater; and the 1975 Synodical in Knox Church, St. Thomas, in April.
