to Mr. Lyons that the wage scale
at Douglas Point had made it vir-
tually impossible to establish any
secondary industry in this com-
munity or any other adjacent
small community.
Council stated that residential
development was now the more .
important item in increasing the
village tax base.
Reeve Joynt stated that an in-
dustrial survey is on file at the
town office and that the clerk and
assessment commissioner could
verify this fact.
The Reeve said, "As far as Mr.
Delaney is concerned, the Ontario
Government has created the in-
dustrial monster in the Toronto
and Hamilton area, where the
government has promoted and
encouraged industrial expansion
in a 60 mile radits,"
"The rest of us are considered
in a green belt area and there is
no way that secondary industry ,
can compete in this area today".
Asked by Mr. Lyons if the coun-
cil wanted to go deeper into the
suggestionS in the'letter, the
Reeve replied , "No, I've done
everything that I can in trying to
locate industry".
