R. 1 Lucknow presented a care in the city. Bobby Cameron's mother was in Owen Sound hospital this past, .week. We wish her a speedy re- covery from her operation. 'We thank all the'interested part .ents who attended our Open House. on Tuesday evening. OPEN HOUSE Our Grade One classenjoyed having Open. House again this year, It was fun to show our work to our, parents. We eaked to each class to see ,all the displays. We en- joyed seeing where our brothers 411ci_siSt sat. Everyone deserves the opportunity to get the best potsible education. This is what Ontario is doing to see that you get your chance. The government here in Ontario believes that no one should ever be deprived of a higher education simply for lack of Money. And, we're doing . something about it ... through the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP). • OSAP consists of government- financed loans and grantS designed to help qualified Canadian citizens and landed immigrants pay for their higher education. And they are based 'on need, not on academic achievement. The loans are interest-free'until 6 months after graduatibn; and repay: merits don't begin until then. The grants don't normally have to be repaid at . Already, 2 out of 5 students at , Ontario univ.ersities .andtoOmmunity colleges .receive some form of financial assistance from ()SAP. GRADE FIVE-SIX T his week we have two birthdays in Our class, They are Ann .Courtney's which was on • April 22nd and Ronald Harris Which is on. April 24, 1974. We wish them both very Happy Birth- dayi. • The deadline has arrived for pupils' who are selling chocolate bars for the Ripley District.Com- plex. The approximate number of chocolate bars sold in onr,class is 491 which is a lot for 35 pupils. Many of us'are competing for, the huge 7 lb.,, $23.80 chocolate bar which will be received by the person 'who sells the most choCo- late bars. In our class, Craig Col' quhoun is in the lead with 121 bars sold. Results-- The winners are Craig Colquhoun, Shirley Cornish, and Sarah Lee Stewart. The .prizes were presented at Open House, Tuesday, April 23. OPEN HOUSE • On Tuesday, April 23, We had open house at the Ripley-Huron Central Public School:from 9.00 a ;.m. to 12. 00noon and from 7.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. At 8.30 we had a Reach for the Top Contest. The two teams were (a) Heather MacDonald , Tommy Wilson, Larry Needham, Robbie Farrell; and (b) Eoin MacKay, Ricky Ir- win, Debbie Lowry ,, and Murray Scott'. The scorekeepers wer,e Shannon Courtney and Corinne Boyle. The timer was Susie Rock and the judge wasjoan Osborne. The questioner was Bob O'Donohui. Loin MacKay's team won With 390 while Heather MacDonald's team 'scored 350. After the Reach for the ,Top Con- test , 'Mr. Stanley presented awards to the three pupils selling the most chocolate bars, with 716 chocolaie bars sold, .The winners were Sarah Lee Stewart , Shirley Cornish and Craig Colquhoun. GRADE TWO Jeffrey Weiner was on a trip to Montreal for a few days last weep. He enjoyed the trip. Lisa Gratton is attending school
