She wel- comed ladies from Kinlough -and POrt Albert saying how pleased she was to see so many out. The 'meeting opened with the A. C.W. prayer and the Lord's prayer. Hymn qoo "This is my Father's World" was sung. Mrs. Paul Caes- ar read the scripture: Meditation and prayers followed. Taking part were Mrs. G. Garratt, Mrs. J. Warren, Karen. Gaunt, Mrs. Roul- ston and Mrs. L. Hazeldon. Mrs. W. Hayden of Port Albert played a lovely piano solo. Mrs, Page of Kinlough favoured with a solo "When I survey the wondrous cross" accompanied by Miss Edna Boyle. A panel of Miss' May Boyle, Mrs.' E. Black and Mrs. J. Warren attempted to guess the .headlines that might have accom- panied well known Bible, stories. These stories were represented by Mrs. Tom Phillips, • Mrs. Harold Cooper and Miss Ruth Thompson. . Fourteen members and one visitor opened the Meeting by repeating the W. M.S. Purpose. The ser- vice of worship was taken from Glad Tidings. Hymn 734 was sung followed by Mrs. Alvin Robb tak- ing part of leader. Prayer was read with the Lord's prayer being said. Hymn 214 was sung and Mrs. Giant Parrish took the reading part. zie followed by Hymn 220. Mrs. Alvin Robb, gave the meditation and also took the reader part. , Offeitory prayer was given by . Mrs. Jim West. Business was dis- cussed. Roll call on .a favourite Easter hymn or verse was' answered. Mrs. Warren. Wylds and Mrs. 'Ewan MacLean had attended the workshop held at Lucknow Presbyterian. Church April 8th and Mrs. Wylds reported on this. Mrs. Ewan Mac- Lean had attended the Synodical held at Geneva Church, Chesley on Tuesday ., April 2nd and gave an enjoyable report on that., It was decided to have evening meetings during thesummer months. /Mrs. West reminded us of the May Presbyterial to be held in Ripley on Monday, May 13th. 'Hymn 227, verses '1, 2 and 3 was sung and prayer repeated in unison closed the meeting. Grace was sung,and lunch was served by the hostess and commit- tee. , Mrs: Ruth Wilson introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. Homer Dev- itt, who took as her theme, "The Message of Easter". This was greatly enjoyed. Mrs. Bill Mac- Pherson and Mrs. Jack Barriav- oured with a duet , ''Ivory Palaces': The Lord's prayer was repeated in unison. Grace was sung and deli- cious refreshments were served. A musical number "Bless 'this 'house" by Paddy and Jill Mur- ray and Stephen Pritchard'i acCom-, partied by , Mrs. Torn ,Pritchard 'was enjoyed by all. • Mrs. Ernest Gaunt. introduced the guest speaker Mrs. John King of Kincardine, wife of a former rector. She spoke on getting back to the basicsbelief our in 'God and Jesus Christ. In our modern world we keep trying to change the church but the. basic beliefs and commands still are as relev- ' ant as they ever were and should not be bent to fit outside pressur- es. Mrs. Phillips thanked Mrs. King and presented her with a gift . Mrs. Hazelden read a "closing . thought" and the meeting closed with hymn 616 "I know that' 'my Redeemer lives" and prayer. She closed with a reading - The Happy Land, where the singing of a little girl of the hymn, There is a Happy. The Ladies Aid meeting was then held with arrangements being made to cater for a wedding din- ner. A cleaning bee for the church was set for May 14. The collection was received and the meeting closed repeating the Lord'SPrayer in unison. Lunch was served by the hostess Mrs. Elmer King. Whitechurch Messengers WHITECHURCH NEWS . Whitechurch Messengers meet- ing was held on Sunday at the United Church in the Sunday Schooltheme room. The thee of the sneering was Joy of Living. Dungannon UCW The Dungannon United Church Women took part-in an Easter Devotional entitled "Go Tell"', at their regular meeting. Helen' Dickson convened this part of the program and was assisted by ' Carol Reed and Donna Alton.. Two skit's were presented on the proper• and not so proper way to visit the shut-ins. Gloria Pearson gave an Histor- ical reading on the settling • Dungannon by Irish immigrants before the turn of the century. Eighteen ladies reported on visitations they had made in re- sponse to the roll call. Audrey Hasty conducted a short business period and Ruby Finnigan assisted Emily Drennan with serving tea.
