This Week In Ripley

Last Wednesday a large moving
van from Montreal pulled up to
the former Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Martel house.. Warrant officer,
Richard Edmiston, retired from
the Canadian Armed Forces in
Germany, Was having his house-
hold effects moved to hii new
home in Ripley across the road
from the Ripley Chopping and
Feed Mill.
The house has been empty since
Frank and Dantelle Martel and
' family moved to Tiverton :some
months ago. Assisting Dick at his
home has been his father , Doug
Edmiston of Kincardine, in gettin
things unpacked and arranged.
Warrant officer Richard Edmis7
ton has served Canada for the past
.28 years in the army to his retire-
ment, October 24, last Fall. Dick
and his wife were transferred to
Baden - 7' Baden, between Stras-
bourg and Heidelberg in Germany
in July 1970. A very unfortunate
traffic accident near Baden - Bad-
en claimed' the life of his wife on
August 16, 1971 and the sympathy
of residents of this area go to Dick
0.
We are all glad to hear that Mrs.
Joe Fludder is making satisfactory,
recovery after undergoing spinal
surgery in the University Hospital
Recently visiting with Mrs. Flor-
ence Liddle at her home in Rip-
ley were Mary. Brown of Sarnia
and Joan Leadbeater of Fort Erie.
While here they attended the
Helm-Culbert wedding. •
A' large crowd• attended the
second game in' the play off ser-
ies between Langton and Ripley
Juveniles. In S aturday evening's
game in Ripley the local team
edged Lark4ton 6 to. 5 which puts
the standing , 2 games to 0
for Ripley. However , to-night
(Sunday) it is, right back in Lang-
ton - just north of Long Point on
Cake Erie.

Do not forget that this Friday
evening, March 29, the Lucknow
Agricultural Society is staging its
3 -act play "Everybody's Crazy"
in the Huron Township Hall in
Ripiey. It is being sponsored by
the Ripley Agricultural Society
withdirector John Gainble in
charge of the ,local arrangements.
Support of this fine play will be a
help to both fair boards r Lucknow
and *ley.
Speaking'of support; it took a
large amount, of food and refresh-
ments at the recent Ripley Skate-
athon. The revised list Of gener-
ous donors now reads - Mrs. Grace
Carruthers, Charlie Hooisma and
Lawri James. - all food stores
along Ripley's mainstreet and
Gordon Cameron's store at. Pine
River. Gord also, drove his bus
in taking skaters to and frorn the
Ripley Diamond Jubilee arena to,
the Huron Township .hall as
did both Mr. and Mrs. George
Messenger of Reid's Corners with
their buses. Add to the above a
long list of ladies who donated
sandwiches arid other items of
food, also Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Needham, Lloyd Courtney of Lon-
don, the Ripley Curling Club
members and the Ripley and Dist-
rict Lions Club.

Mr. and Mrs.' Allan Gardner Of
Clinton visited last Saturday with
Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Fludder
Tammy and Jason in Ripley.

Durham; received' a laceration
to hie lip playing.hockey the
Wingham arena.
Mark Sochner , age i4, New
Hamburg , lacerated his chin
while playing hockey at the Wing-
ham arena.
Stephen Larson., age 16 , Font-
hill , lacerated his left ,eyebrow
while playing hockey at the
Wingham arena.
Mrs. Margaret Douglas Wrox-
eter; fell at home and received
spinal injuries. She 'was admit- ,
ted, to hospital where her condi-
tion. is satisfactory.
Gary Juniper , age 38, Chats,-
Worth , .received a lacerated left
ear playing hockey at the Wing-
ham arena.
Albert Ten Pas, R. R. 2, Wing-
ham ,,had some lumber fall on
him and received a fractured rib.
Paul Cerson, age 13 Wingham,
received .a laceration to the right
side of his face playing hockey at
the Wingham arena.
Mrs. Mary`McMichael, Wing-
ham was struck by a hockey puck
•at the. Wingham arena and receiv-
ed a fractured bone in her left
hand, 4 Kenneth Weigle, age 41, Van-
Astra Park, Clinton, ran into a
barbed wire fence while snowmo-
biling.on the farm of Arvin James..
He received rrinlri lacerations to
the face, was repaired and later
released. In'eStigated by Wing-
ham O.P.P. Arponen.
Mrs. Loma Krug , Wingham,
fell at the Wingham
arena and fractured her right
wrist.
Russell McClay,, age 17, 5'7
Oak Street, London, received a
laceration over right eye playing
hockey at the Wingham arena.

Mrs. Fred Gilchrist was a pat-
ient in Wingham and District ,
Hospital for four days and Mrs:
Jelle de Jong has been there for
over a week.
Wayne and Beverly pen enjoy-
ed a holiday at their Grandma"
Bell",s in Toronto last week.
Ruth Graham returned home
from a wonderful holiday in Spain
Saturday evening. On Sunday
Mrs. Allan Graham motored to
Burlington for Martha , who had
been holidaying there` for the past
week. They ,also visited in' Fer-
gus with Mrs. Graham's mother,
Mrs.• Jas. Barton.
Ivfrs. Robt. Gilchrist, Mrs.
Frank' MacKenzie and Mrs. Clar-
ence Ritchie attended the Distriet .
Director's' meeting held .in Tiver-
ton on Tuesday..
Earl Schmidt and son Ronald of
Kitchener visited on the week end
with his mother, Mrs. Alvin
Schmidt.

were Brenda Ritchie and Nick

Norma and Marilynne Mac-
Intyre had an enjoyable vacatioi
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A;
Thompson in Toronto last week.

Murray Gilchrist spent a few
days last week with Mr. and Mr
Jack Gilchrist and Brian in Toro
to. Mrs. Robert Gilchrist , Grar
Dale and Danny also visited in
Toronto on Wednesday and ,Murt '
returned home with them.'
Sincere sympathy is extended
to the MacKinnon family in the
passing of Jack Wilson of Harnil
ton. Mrs. MacKinnon has been
Hamilton since Friday and Rase
MacKinnon, David, Mary and
Murray attended the funeral on
Monday.

afternoon. It is reported that
Mary had two spinal discs remov-
ed in the operation. Due •to ill-
ness Joe was unable to be down,
however Mr. and Mrs. Donnie
Fludder were there.

Miss Ruth Rock of Ripley was
back at her job in the Pine .River
Cheese Factory last' week. Ruth
was a patient in Kincardine and
District Hospital for some time
and has now'recovered.
