Ladies Guild
The March meeting of Christ
Church Ladies Guild, Port Albert
was held at the home of Mrs.
Elmer Black. The meeting was
opened with the Member's Prayer
and the hymn "The King, of Love
my Shepherd is" repeated in uni-
son.
A prayer and the meditation
was given by the president, Mrs.
Black, followed. by the scripture
reading from St. Luke, Chapter
7 given by Mrs. Clara Draper.
Mrs. Cora Cook then gave a read-
ing "Lent is a Joy.".

Graduation Day for the Dung-
annon Explorers' group was held
on ThOrsday, March 21, in the
form of a community pot-luck
dinner. The leaders wish to thank
the ladies for coming, as their
support is greatly appreciated.

This past season the attendance
Was excellent with nine girls re-
ceiving perfect attendance gifts.
Weather permitting, the annual
hike will be on May 18. The
girls who will be joining, the Ex-
plorers next fall are invited to

R. Bieman with a good attend-
ance.
Mrs. R. Jefferson opened the
meeting with hymn 101. Its, if Jefferson took the scripture from
St. Matthew 26 followed With a
poem "Thirty Pieces" by Nits,
Wm. Hardy.
The Old Rugged Cross was suno followed by a prayer by Mrs. R,
Jefferson. Mrs. L eddy read
poem "The Last Supper",
Mrs. R. Jeffersomr ead a Stay writ ten 'by 'one of the astr9nauts on
"COMmunion in Space" and Mrs,
E. Robinson followed with a
poem "Constant Lent" . Hymn 98
Beneath the Cross of Jesus, was
sung. Mrs. R. Jefferson passed
out a Friendship Book with meth, hers taking part.
Mrs. .T . Armstrong took the
topic - A programme of Christia ity.
The business was taken over by
the president Mrs: R. glinna,
Articles for the bale were handed
in.' The U. C. W. axe to cater to
a banquet in April. A num' berof
thank you cards were read, Hymn
175 in the songs of the Gospel war
sung. Mrs. ,R. Jefferson read a
poem "Gethsemane" , Pastor Fry
closed the meeting with a:prayer,
A social time was enjoyed with
Mrs. S. Thompson and Mrs, T,
Armstrong assisting the hostess
Mrs. R. Bieman.

The correspondence included
an invitation froth Bluevale to
attend their Thankoffering meet-
ing April second at 8.15 and hear
their guest spealter and see the
films. A workshop is to ,be held
at incknow Presbyterian Church at
10 a.m. with topic "What it
means to be a Christian" and
in, the afternoon, "How' to plan a
study"
The

April meeting will be held
at the home of Mrs. Elmer King.
The roll call was answered with a
scriptural verse containing the
word excuse. The collection and
birthday money was received and
dedicated by Mrs. Dawson Craig.'
Mrs. Craig read an intereiting
humorous article - Excuses for
Not Attending Church.
The topic - "Life of Christ"
was prepared by Mrs. Lloyd
Murdock and read by Mrs. Wes-
ley Tiffin. For unto you is born

Of Dungannon UCW
Nile United Church Women were
guests of Dungannon U.C. W. on
Tuesday at their replar meeting
held in the S.S. rooms at Dun-
gannon United•Church.
A Lenten theme was used for
the , devotional entitled "God
Acts". This portion of program
was convened by Mis."N. Pearson
and her committee, Mrs. Mc-
Clenaghan, Mrs. Wintemute
and Miss B. McConnell.
Mrs. Carol Reed led in a hymn
sing and Mrs. Gwen Caesar ad-
dressed, the. group speaking on
"Schools for the Retarded". Gwen
explained in, detail her work at,
Golden Circle School in Wing-
ham and stated that there are
three schools in Huron County
forthe benefit of the children.
An invitation was extended for
all present to visit the school.
A skit "It's All in the Family"
was presented by Donna Alton and
Marjorie Pentland; one very pre—
judiced and the other more toler-
ant of World problems. 4
Dianne Park pleased the group
by singing "Danny Boy" and led
the group in several Irish numb-
ers.
Mrs. McClenaghan expressed
our thanks to Mrs. Caesar then
Mrs. Hasty conducted a short busi-
ness period.
A social hour followed at tea
time. .

and the .meeting was closed, re-
peating the Lord's Prayer in uni-
son. • ....
The Grace wa's sung and the
hostess Mrs. Robert Ross
served lunch including the birth-
day cake.

Speaks On Russia
St. Peter's A.C. W. met at the.
Parish Hall Tuesday evening
March 19. President Of the onth
Mrs. Clare Johnstone presided and
opened the meeting with the A .C.
W. prayer.
After Mrs. Ernest Gaunt read the
scripture , a moment's Silence was
observed in memory of'Mrs. T. J.
Salkeld and 'the Lord's Prayer re-
peated.
Roll call was answered by "What
Lent means to me" „ Mi'ss Ruth
Thompson reported she had given
away one of the quilts, the ladies
had quilted. Discussion followed
re supplies' for the altar.. A busy
time appears ahead with several
banquets and a wedding reported
for April and early May.
April is the Thankoffering
meeting and all were pleased to
hear the guest speaker will be a
former Rector's wife, Mrs. John ,
King. Mrs. Garratt took the med-
itation. '
Ruth Thorripson then gave a very
interesting talk 'on het trip to Mos-
cow and Leningrad.
Mrs. Johnstone gave a closing
thought and Mrs. Garratt closed
the rneetim with prayer.. Lunch
and a social time followed..

Chalthers Women's Missionary
Society held their March meeting
,on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the
= home of Mrs. Robert Ross.
The president Mrs.. Bill Rintoul
opened the meeting by reading ,
a. poem entitled Lent. She wel-
comed the members after which
all sang Beneath the Cross of
Jesus. ,Mrs. Andrew Gaunt read
the scipture fiom Mark M.'
The meditation was also given
by Mrs. Gaunt, who told of the
trial oflesus, Pilate on
his trial , of. Jesus could find no
crime of which to accuse him
and thinking to pacify the crowd
he told them he would release
Barabas the thief. When Pilate
found. Jesus, not guilty he said he
would have him whipped
still blood ran down his back Then
a robe was put on him and a crow
of thorns on his head.
Mrs. Robert Ross led in prayer ,
and "When I survey the Wondrous
Cross" was sung. A reading East-

The regular meeting of the,
Luc know Girl Guides was held
March 21st., The meeting was
opened with roll call, followed
by 'Horseshoe formation, flag
raising by the Canaries and 0
Canada.
It ,was announced that testing
for the Public Speaker's Badge
be done on April 4th, and testing
for the Aquarist's- Badge will be
on April llih.
The Volleyball Tournament
will be this Saturday, March 3011
at the Public School at 10,00 •

Mrs. Black conducted a Bible
Quiz with Mrs. Irene Hayden
winning the prize.
Mis. Black led in the discussion
of "The Ordination of Women to
the Priesthood" , which was follow-
ed by the introduction of the
Study for 1974. This year we will
study the Diocese of MooSonee 'in
Northern Ontario, and the prob-
lems the Indians and Eskimos are
having.
'This very informative meeting
was closed by prayer and lunch
was served by the hostess.
